Three Tigers named to Golden Spikes Award Midseason watch list
Three LSU Tigers have been named to the Golden Spikes Award Midseason Watch List.
Dylan Crews, Paul Skenes and Tommy White all made the cut for the prestigious award. The Golden Spikes Award is given out to the nation’s best amateur player in the country.
Last season, Texas‘ Ivan Melendez won the prestigious trophy. Sixteen players from the SEC made the cut for the award.
For Crews and Skenes, this award would just be another trophy to add to their wall before one of them gets chosen as the No. 1 overall pick in the 2023 MLB draft. White could try to go for the trophy this year and win it again next season.

Dylan Crews

Crews is off to a historical start for LSU this year. He is currently hitting .531 with nine homers and 35 RBI. His 26-game hitting streak just ended on Tuesday, but there is no doubt that he has been on a tear and he is the best hitter in baseball.
Paul Skenes

Skenes has been as good as advertised if not better since he joined the Tigers in Baton Rouge. Skenes is currently 5-0 with a 0.81 ERA in seven starts. He has 83 strikeouts and only eight walks. I believe that either he or Crews will be the No. 1 draft pick this year.
Tommy White

Tommy Tanks is who we thought he was. He is here to hit tanks and chew bubblegum, and he’s all out of bubblegum. White currently has a .378 batting average with 10 homers and 50 RBI so far.
