Texas Tech basketball: Lamar Washington adds name to transfer portal

Add another name to the list of Texas Tech basketball players headed to the transfer portal.

Reserve guard Lamar Washington officially entered the transfer portal Wednesday, a Texas Tech spokesperson confirmed. Washington appeared in 30 games off the bench for the Red Raiders this season, averaging 8.9 minutes, 2.1 points and 1.5 rebounds per game.

Washington is the seventh Red Raider to enter or reportedly enter the transfer portal since the start of the 2023-24 season. The Tech spokesperson also confirmed that D'Maurian Williams is officially in the portal as well.

Williams and Washington join Pop Isaacs, Robert Jennings and KyeRon Lindsay as players to have entered the portal since the end of the season. Devan Cambridge is reportedly on his way there in the near future (possibly later today) and Drew Steffe left the team midway through the year.

Five players from Grant McCasland's inaugural team are currently slated to return next season: Darrion Williams, Chance McMillian, Kerwin Walton, Eemeli Yalaho and Jack Francis.

Players can enter the transfer portal until May 1.
