Texas Tech basketball adds preferred walk-on commitment from Dallas-area HS power

The point guard from a Dallas-area high school powerhouse has committed to the Texas Tech basketball team as a preferred walk-on.

Jazz Henderson Jr., a 6-foot guard from Oak Cliff Faith Family Academy, announced his commitment to the Red Raiders via social media Friday morning. Faith Family won its third consecutive Class 4A state championship earlier this month.

Henderson was named to the all-state tournament team. He was also the District 12-4A offensive player of the year.

Texas Tech is looking to fill at least four scholarship roster spots this year as of now with Joe Toussaint and Warren Washington having exhausted their eligibility and confirmed departures through the transfer portal in KyeRon Lindsay and Drew Steffe.

Teams have 13 scholarship roster spots open at the Division I level. Henderson joins Jack Francis, who is also a walk-on for the Red Raiders.
