KyeRon Lindsay enters transfer portal, leaves Texas Tech basketball

The Texas Tech basketball team has its first departure to the transfer portal this offseason.

KyeRon Lindsay has officially put his name into the portal, a Tech spokesman confirmed Tuesday. Lindsay appeared in nine games this season, scoring 24 points and grabbing 12 rebounds.

Lindsay was away from the team for the final three games of the regular season and each of the team's three postseason games. He played a season-high 23 minutes in the Feb. 20 home win against TCU, scoring eight points and grabbing seven rebounds.

Following the TCU game, Lindsay, who was expected to redshirt this season before Devan Cambridge's knee injury in December, played three minutes in the next two games and stepped away from the team after that.

Asked about Lindsay's absence following the win at Oklahoma State, head coach Grant McCasland said "it's not gonna work" for players who aren't committed to playing defense.

Lindsay began his college career at Georgia, where he played in 10 games with eight starts for the Bulldogs before transferring to Tech mid-season. He sat out the last half of the 2022-23 season due to transfer rules.
