Texas football's Steve Sarkisian gets 50th birthday wishes from wife Loreal

Texas coach Steve Sarkisian has finally reached the big 50 mark.

It's been an eventful past year for the new 50-year-old. Sarkisian led Texas to its best record since 2009, the College Football Playoff and was rewarded with an early birthday present: a raise that set his salary at $10.3 million — up from his previous salary of $5.8 million.

His wife, Loreal Sarkisian, gave her husband a lovely shoutout on Instagram for hitting the milestone. The fashion expert and former track star hasn't always been a fan of burnt orange, but she's always down for a Hook 'em.

Sarkisian is no longer seen as one of the youngest coaches in the league, with loads of experience in the college coaching world. At 50, his mentor Nick Saban had just taken his first SEC coaching job with LSU, far from his eventual final destination at Alabama. The protege, however, has already made stops at Washington, USC and Alabama prior to moving to the 40 Acres.

More March birthdays from notable Texas Longhorns

What's in store for Sarkisian in his 50s? We'll have to wait and see. On another note, though, keep an eye out for more upcoming birthdays from notable Texas figures.

Women's basketball coach Vic Schaefer celebrated his birthday on March 2nd. Quarterback Quinn Ewers' birthday is on March 15, Texas men's basketball coach Rodney Terry's is on March 17, and legendary running back Earl Campbell's is on March 20.
