Tennessee high school football transfer tracker for TSSAA 2023 season

Tennessee high school football transfer announcements have exploded on social media in recent weeks.

The USA Today Sports Network has started the process of compiling the list of notable high school football players who have transferred to Tennessee schools.

Here is the start of this statewide list. The network will add more as we become aware.

Players are listed alphabetically by new school.

Brody Blankenship

Position: Wide receiver | Grade: Senior

New school: Alcoa | Old school: Carter

2022 stats: Blankenship had 675 receiving yards and five touchdowns in 2022. He also made the All-Region 2-4A team.

Cody Pagach

Position: Quarterback | Grade: Senior

New school: Alcoa | Old school: Independence

2022 stats: The 6-foot-3, 175-pound quarterback is the No. 49 player in the state, according to 247sports Composite. Pagach was 23-of-47 passing for 354 yards with two touchdowns and nine interceptions as a junior in three games before sustaining an injury and not returning to the lineup. He has offers from Pittsburgh, Western Kentucky, Washington State, UT Martin, Miami (Ohio), Toledo and UNLV.

Brandon Winton

Position: Wide receiver | Grade: Senior

New school: Alcoa | Old school: IMG Academy

2022 stats: Winton is the No. 86 wide receiver in the country and the No. 17 player in the state, according to the 247Sports Composite. The 6-foot-1 wide receiver is a transfer from IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida who started his high school career at Knoxville Webb.

Izaiah Hall

Position: Quarterback | Grade: Senior

New school: Anderson County | Old school: Jefferson County

2022 stats: Hall is the reigning Region 1-6A Co-Offensive Player of the Year and led Jefferson County to a 7-4 season.

Chase Sutton

Position: Safety | Grade: Junior

New school: Bartlett | Old school: St. George’s

2022 stats: Sutton moves to the Panthers after being one of the top defensive backs on the Gryphons. He had 15 tackles and four interceptions and holds offers from Tennessee, West Virginia and UNLV.

Lance Taylor, Jr.

Position: Linebacker | Grade: Senior

New school: Bartlett | Old school: MASE

2022 stats: Taylor had 86 tackles, including nine for loss with MASE. He also had two interceptions and a defensive touchdown.

Jaheim Merriweather

Position: Running back | Grade: Senior

New school: Bearden | Old school: Gallatin

2022 stats: Merriweather rushed for 900-plus yards and had 11 rushing touchdowns along with a kick-return touchdown. He also had two interceptions as a defensive back.

Brody Smith

Position: Offensive lineman | Grade: Sophomore

New school: Bearden | Old school: Knoxville Catholic

2022 stats: The 6-foot-5, 253-pound Smith will be a central part of the Bulldogs' offense. Smith is the son of former NFL tight end Lee Smith and has a Tennessee Vols offer.

Kaden Powell

Position: Quarterback | Grade: Sophomore

New school: Beech | Old school: Smith County

2022 stats: With the loss of Justyce Law, Powell could slide in and make an immediate impact at QB for the Bucs. Powell led the Owls in passing (969 yards, 13 TDs) and rushing (946 yards, 16 TDs) while guiding Smith County to a 11-2 mark and a Class 3A quarterfinal appearance.

Boo Carter

Position: Athlete | Grade: Senior

New School: Bradley Central | Old school: Chattanooga Brainerd

2022 stats: A four-star prospect, Carter is ranked as the No. 4 prospect in Tennessee for the 2024 class by 247sports Composite. The Tennessee commit was a football star at Chattanooga Christian last fall before transferring to Brainerd in November. He had 28 touchdowns for the Chargers on offensive, and finished with 40 tackles four interceptions and one defensive TD playing in Division II-AA . At Brainerd he led the Panthers to the Class 2A state semifinals in basketball.

Baylor Hayes

Position: Quarterback | Grade: Senior

New school: Brentwood | Old school: Sandalwood (Jacksonville, Florida)

2022 stats: Hayes completed 77-of-143 passes for 1,000 yards and five touchdowns at Sandalwood as a junior, adding 216 yards rushing. In Brentwood's spring scrimmage against Siegel, he went 13-for-16 for 221 yards and a score and has offers from Austin Peay and Tennessee Tech.

T.T. Hill

Position: Wide receiver | Grade: Junior

New school: Brentwood Academy | Old School: Oakland

2022 stats: Hill caught 21 passes for 421 yard and three TDs in 2022, and ran 78 times for 621 yards with nine rushing TDs. Hill also played on special teams and finished with 1,278 all-purpose yards as key member of Oakland's state title team. Hill, a 5-foot-10, 165-pounder, has offers from Georgia Tech, Memphis and Vanderbilt.

Easton Jointer

Position: Athlete | Grade: Sophomore

New School: Brentwood Academy | Old school: South Warren (Bowling Green, Kentucky)

2022 stats: Jointer brings his 6-2, 195-pound frame to the Eagles' offense and gives quarterback George MacIntyre another target in the passing game. He had seven receptions for 89 yards and a TD for South Warren who finished 6-6 and advanced to the second round of the state playoffs in Kentucky. He is also a defensive back.

Shavar Young

Position: Wide receiver | Grade: Sophomore

New school: Brentwood Academy | Old school: Knoxville Webb

2022 stats: The 6-foot, 190-pound wide receiver has Power 5 offers for the Class of 2026 from Tennessee, Wisconsin, Arkansas, Colorado, West Virginia, Penn State, Georgia Tech, Georgia, Florida and South Carolina. He helped lead the Spartans to a second consecutive Division II-AA East championship. As a freshman, Young had 40 receptions for 664 receiving yards and returned six punts for 176 yards and two touchdowns.

Elisha Nieves

Position: Quarterback | Grade: Senior

New school: Centennial | Old school: Columbia Academy

2022 stats: Nieves arrives at Centennial along with new coach Jamaal Stewart. Nieves was 54-of-97 passing for 588 yards with six touchdowns and six interceptions at Columbia Academy.

Caleb Cooper

Position: Wide receiver | Grade: Freshman

New school: Ensworth | Old school: Lipscomb Academy

2022 stats: The only freshman on this list, Cooper played as an eighth-grader during Lipscomb Academy's second straight Division II-AA state championship run before transferring to Ensworth.

Max Holtzclaw

Position: Quarterback | Grade: Senior

New school: Ensworth | Old school: Brentwood Academy

2022 stats: Holtzclaw joins the Tigers and may fill the shoes of graduated quarterback Levi Moore. He was a backup to George MacIntyre a season ago. He played in one game for the Eagles last year in which he had 31 yards rushing on a single carry and a 52-yard touchdown pass.

Jaren Sensabaugh

Position: Cornerback | Grade: Senior

New school: Ensworth | Old school: Knoxville Catholic

2022 stats: A three-star defensive back, Sensabaugh (6-1, 170) missed most of his junior season with an injury but is the No. 34-ranked prospect in Tennessee, according to 247sports Composite. The Vanderbilt commit also held offers from NC State, Duke and Arkansas State and is the son of Gerald Sensabaugh, a former NFL safety who played for the Dallas Cowboys and Jacksonville Jaguars.

Kison Shepard

Position: Offensive line | Grade: Senior

New school: Germantown | Old school: Fayette-Ware

2022 stats: Shepard committed this past summer to Mississippi State. He also held offers from Tennessee, Texas A&M, Texas, Ole Miss, Nebraska, Florida and others.

Cordero Walker

Position: Quarterback | Grade: Senior

New school: Germantown | Old school: Haywood

2022 stats: Walker keyed Haywood's run to the TSSAA Class 4A state semifinals. Walker finished with 3,200 all-purpose yards along with 45 total touchdowns. He had 30 passing touchdowns and just two interceptions.

Kohl Bradley

Position: Athlete | Grade: Junior

New school: Lipscomb Academy | Old school: George County High (Mississippi)

2022 stats: Bradley had 68 total tackles and a fumble recovery at corner. He likely fits in at safety for the Mustangs. He also can play wide receiver and on special teams as a returner. He went to the same high school as another Lipscomb transfer in Deuce Knight. Bradley is a three-star athlete with offers from Arkansas, Florida State and Memphis.

Deuce Knight

Position: Quarterback | Grade: Junior

New school: Lipscomb Academy | Old school: George County High (Mississippi)

2022 stats: The left-hander is a four-star prospect and threw for 1,929 yards, rushed for 488 yards and had 23 total touchdowns in nine games for George County. The 6-foot-5, 195-pound standout was the No. 2 college prospect in Mississippi for the Class of 2025 and is ranked No. 4 in Tennessee, according to the 247Sports Composite. He's also the No. 5 quarterback in the country and No. 78 overall recruit.

Kollin Collier

Position: Defensive back | Grade: Senior

New school: Munford | Old school: Briarcrest

2022 stats: Collier recorded 31 tackles for the Saints in the secondary. He led the team with four interceptions.

Ashton Jones

Position: Running back | Grade: Senior

New school: Oakland | Old school: Donelson Christian

2022 stats: Jones rushed for 1,862 yards and 24 touchdowns and was a DII-A Mr. Football semifinalist.

Daune Morris

Position: Athlete | Grade: Junior

New school: Oakland | Old school: Red Bank

2022 stats: Morris, who can play in the backfield or line up as a receiver, spent part of 2022 battling an injury, but was instrumental in the postseason, leading Red Bank to the 4A state semifinals.

Brock Montgomery

Position: Wide receiver | Grade: Senior

New school: Riverdale | Old school: Friendship Christian

2022 stats: Montgomery had 57 receptions for 1,167 yards 15 touchdowns in leading the Commanders to the DII-A state title, scoring three TDs on 111 yards receiving in the BlueCross Bowl.

Nathan Delaughter

Position: Quarterback | Grade: Senior

New school: Shelbyville | Old school: Tullahoma

2022 stats: Delaughter left a Wildcats program that won four games last season to join Tullahoma rival Shelbyville that finished 1-10. Shelbyville hasn't beaten Tullahoma since 2019. The two schools end the regular season against each other.

Martavious Collins

Position: Tight end | Grade: Senior

New School: South Pittsburg | Old School: Calhoun (Georgia)

2022 stats: Collins is a three-star prospect and was the No. 67 prospect in Georgia. He has committed to Auburn. Collins had 597 receiving yards and three touchdowns in 2022.

Justyce Law

Position: Quarterback | Grade: Senior

New school: Stratford | Old School: Beech

2022 stats: Law heads across the border into Davidson County to play football under his father, Anthony Law, who took over the Stratford football program last month. As a junior at Beech, Justyce threw for 923 yards and nine touchdowns and led the Bucs to the Class 6A championship game and finished 13-2.

Britton Carver

Position: Offensive linemen | Grade: Senior

New school: Knoxville West | Old school: Westview

2022 stats: Carver is a transfer from Westview and was named to the Tennessee Football Coaches Association All-State team for Class 2A. He has offers from The University of Tennessee at Martin and Tennessee Tech. His father, Keith Carver, is the former chancellor of UT Martin and is now the new leader of the UT Institute of Agriculture (UTIA) in Knoxville.
