Tennessee baseball in weather delay again at Southern Miss. What if Knoxville was host?

If there was one thing that could have been avoided if the NCAA Tournament committee chose Tennessee baseball over Southern Miss as the super regional host − it would have been weather delays.

The South is known for its summer storms and lots of rain this time of year, and the Hattiesburg Regional has dealt with plenty of that.

On Saturday, Game 1 of the best-of-three series was delayed and then pushed into Sunday due to inclement weather in Hattiesburg which was bound to be expected by looking at the extended forecast.

In the same token, sunny skies and a lack of clouds donned over Knoxville that same day − a beautiful day for baseball.

Sunday showed to be a better day for postseason baseball in both areas. However, Game 3 was delayed Monday before the 5 p.m. CT start time at Pete Taylor Field.

NCAA officials took their time deciding on when would be the best time to hold Game 3 − waiting till past midnight after Game 2 to announce the time.

Even USM baseball's Twitter account was getting impatient.

But of course, these two teams will have to sit and wait to see who will be next to earn a berth in the College World Series with yet another weather delay.

Meanwhile, Knoxville has had quite a great weather day Monday with an 8% chance of rain and the sun out shortly before the game time was decided.

Tennessee fans haven't shown much mercy either on Twitter, listing one thing after the other on why the super regional should have been held in Knoxville.
