Tampa Bay Buccaneers give Antoine Winfield Jr. biggest contract for defensive back in NFL
Antoine Winfield Jr. has cashed in.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers safety and Columbus native agreed to a four-year contract worth $84.1 million with $45 million guaranteed, according to multiple reports.
The deal makes the son of Akron native Antoine Winfield Sr. the highest paid defensive back in the NFL, a league first for the position.
Antoine Winfield Jr. is now the highest-paid defensive back in NFL history after he and the Bucs reached agreement on a 4-year, $84.1M deal, per sources. It’s the first time in modern NFL history that a safety has set this mark.

Winfield earned All-Pro recognition last season after securing a Pro Bowl appearance in 2021 after. He forced six fumbles last season, three interceptions and defensed 12 passes all while securing 122 tackles in starting all 17 regular season games.
The Buccaneers came to terms with him after using the franchise tag on him in March, according to reports.
