Studs and duds from the Ravens 2023 season
The Baltimore Ravens have concluded their 2023 season, and the focus now shifts to what’s shaping up to be a franchise-altering offseason for general manager Eric DeCosta.
Where things currently stand, Baltimore expected to have roughly $7,328,828 in cap space, via OverTheCap, which is the 20th most in the NFL.
That number could grow if the team opts to part ways with some expensive contracts (perhaps Ronnie Stanley and/or Marlon Humphrey.
With the offseason underway, we’re looking at studs and duds from the 2023 regular season.
Stud-- Lamar Jackson
Jackson will likely be named the NFL’s MVP for a second time, after logging career bests in completions (307), completion percentage (67.2) and passing yards (3,678), while also rushing for a team-high 821 yards. This week he was named AFC Offensive Player of the Month for December/January, winning that honor for the third time in his career.
Stud--Gus Edwards
Gus Edwards’ yards per carry were down this season, but he was solid, logging 810 rushing yards and a team leading 13 rushing touchdowns.
Edwards will have his suitors on the open market.
Stud--Keaton Mitchell
The undrafted rookie outplayed Melvin Gordon in the preseason, and by midseason, was the most productive running back on the roster.
Mitchell was one of the highest graded players on offense, and finished his rookie year with 47 attempts, for 396 yards and two touchdowns in 8 appearances with two starts.
Dud--Justice Hill
Hill lost snaps to Keaton Mitchell down the stretch and finished with 84 carries for 387 yards and 16 games played.
Dud--Devin Duvernay
The former Michigan will hit free agency on a down note after logging 4 catches for 18 yards on 13 games played.
Stud--Zay Flowers
The young rookie carried the Ravens passing attack, logging 77 catches for 858 yards and 5 touchdowns on 108 targets.
Dud --Rashod Bateman
Bateman started 12 of 16 games this season, logging 32 catches, for 367 yards, and 1 touchdown on 56 targets.
Stud-Isaiah LIkely
Playing in relief of an injured Mark Andrews, Likely started 8 of 17 games in 2023, logging 30 catches for 411 yards and 5 touchdowns.
Dud--Melvin Gordon
Gordon’s fumble against the Steelers in the Week 18 season finale was his final carry with the team this season after being waived on Wednesday.
Baltimore moved on from Gordon III after signing Dalvin Cook before the regular season finale against Pittsburgh.
Stud--Kyle Hamilton
The Swiss army knife at safety, Hamilton is an All-Pro and has developed into one of the league’s top defensive players in only his second season.
Hamilton became the first NFL defender since Tyrann Mathieu in 2015 to notch four interceptions, ten passes defended and at least 10 tackles for loss in a single season. Hamilton had three sacks and 13 passes defensed.
Stud--Jadeveon Clowney
Clowney finished the year as one of the highest graded performers, logging a career high 9 sacks, 9 tackles for loss, 51 hurries and 71 QB pressures.
Dud--David Ojabo
The former Michigan pass rusher finished the year on injured reserve, logging 1 start in three games played.
Dud--Broderick Washington
After signing a contract extension, Washington started five of 16 games and was a healthy scratch in two contest.
Washington finished the year with two sacks, 18 tackles and three tackles for loss.
Dud --Tavius Robinson
The former Ole Miss pass rusher and fourth round pick finished his rookie season as one of the lowest graded performers this season.
Robinson started one of 17 games this season, 1 sack and 26 tackles.
Stud--Brandon Stephens
Stephens started 16 games at cornerback, and the converted safety logged two interceptions, and a 65.5 grade in coverage.
Stud--Patrick Queen-Roquan Smith
The dynamic duo at linebacker will likely split up during free agency, but they were major studs during the 2023 regular season.
Queen and Smith combined for 291 tackles, 14 tackles for loss, 11 QB hits, 5 sacks, 2 interceptions, and 14 passes defended.
Stud--Geno Stone
Stone started 11 of 17 games for Baltimore this season, finishing second in the NFL with 7 interceptions, along with 68 tackles and 9 passes defended.
