Stranger smashes woman over head with baseball bat in Manhattan
A stranger whacked a woman walking on a Manhattan sidewalk in the head with a baseball bat, police said Sunday.
The 25-year-old victim was walking on Seventh Ave. near W. 23rd St. in Chelsea when the man approached her around 10:05 p.m. Feb. 8, according to cops.
The man took a baseball bat and hit her over the head before running off.
The woman was taken to Lenox Hill Hospital to be treated for a cut and bruising to her head.
Police on Sunday released images of the man carrying what appears to be a bat. Anyone who recognized the man is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS.
