STILL IN FRONT: UNF men's golf heads pack through two rounds in NCAA regional

Overcoming a bumpy start, the University of North Florida weathered more challenging conditions to retain first place following Tuesday's second round of the men's NCAA Rancho Santa Fe Regional at The Farms Golf Club in Rancho Santa Fe, Calif.

UNF shot a 6-over 286 on the day, briefly dropping from first place into a tie for third. By the round's end, though, the Ospreys were back on top at 3 over for the tournament, one stroke ahead of California, two ahead of West Virginia and three clear of Oklahoma State.

The top five teams in each regional advance to national championships.

Only West Virginia managed to shoot par for the round. UNF continues to lead the birdies list with 30.

UNF's Nick Gabrelcik shot a 1-under 69 to climb to second on the individual leaderboard, two shots behind Sampson Zheng of California. Ospreys teammate Andrew Riley stands one behind Gabrelcik in a tie for third.

Davis Lee (68-72), Jason Duff (71-78) and Robbie Higgins (75-77) complete the UNF lineup in California.
