Steelers WR Diontae Johnson says he’s ‘dead set’ on retiring with Pittsburgh

There is some level of irony when you hear the comments Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Diontae Johnson made about his team. Johnson made it clear that he loves playing in Pittsburgh and doesn’t want to finish his career anywhere else.

“I’m dead set on being a Steeler,” Johnson said. “I’m going to retire a Steeler. I don’t want to play anywhere else. I love it here.”

We don’t think it is ironic Johnson said this. Johnson has always been loyal to this team, even before he got his huge new contract. It is ironic because of how Johnson came to the Steelers. Pittsburgh selected Johnson with the third-round pick they acquired when they traded away wide receiver Antonio Brown. Johnson and Brown are both immensely talented football players but couldn’t be more different as people.

Johnson saw his numbers dip in 2022 with Kenny Pickett taking over as a rookie. But Pickett has made some huge improvements this offseason and we expect a big bounceback from Johnson and the entire Steelers offense.
