Steelers load up on defense in new 2024 NFL mock draft

With nine games in the books, we decided to update our Pittsburgh Steelers five-round mock draft for 2024. We must once again lay out the rules. This was done using the Pro Football Focus 2024 mock draft simulator so I did not simply cherry-pick players. I can only pick from the players on the board when the Steelers went on the clock.

First round - S Tyler Nubin, Minnesota

Nubin is an impressive athlete and lockdown coverage player at safety.

Second round - C Jackson Powers-Johnson, Oregon

Powers-Johnson has emerged as the top interior offensive lineman in the draft and an immediate upgrade over Mason Cole.

Third round - LB Danny Stutsman, Oklahoma

Stutsman draws attention for his physicality and blitzing but he might be the best coverage inside linebacker in the entire draft.

Fourth round - CB Khyree Jackson, Oregon

Press-man specialist with elite size who needs NFL coaching.

Fifth round - QB Jordan Travis, Florida State

No way Travis lasts this long in the actual draft but he’s an elite bargain here. Sam Hartman is also on the board and is probably a more realistic option. Pittsburgh needs to upgrade depth here.
