"It was nice to get this meet in," said Watertown head coach Chad Rohde. "It would have been a terrible way to end a season or someone's last meet like some seniors."

Boys division event winners for the Arrows included Jaxson Fiechtner (800-meter run), Boaz Raderschadt (shot put and discus), Tommy Foley (pole vault) and Brayden Ross (triple jump).

James Clendenin, Wyatt Smunk, Markus Pitkin and Noah Dagel won the 400 relay and Fiechtner anchored the winning 1,600 relay that included Jeremiah Schulte, Ayden Steiner and Jerome Zebroski.

Girls division event winners for Watertown were Anna Hirtz (100 dash), Andi Olson (800 run), Emma List (3,200 run), Malia Kranz (shot put), Maddy Rohde (javelin), Reese Munger (high jump) and Elizabeth Lake (pole vault).

Emma and Molly Hendricks, Olivia Whiting and Ellery Stark teamed to win the medley relay.

"The athletes on the bubble did all they could to move themselves into a spot to earn a berth in the state meet," said Rohde.

Watertown's athletes will conclude their season Thursday through Saturday in the South Dakota State High School Track and Field Championships at Howard Wood Field in Sioux Falls.

"Our focus now is to get in a good week of practice with the athletes who will be at the state meet. Certainly some kids feel like they have some unfinished business and are hoping to get some personal-best marks," said Rohde.

"This will be a little smaller group than we normally take to state, but we're still hoping to make some noise and bring home some hardware."
