The Sentinel has picked a basketball starting five for each high school from 2000 to the present and will run the all-century teams during the holiday break. Who should join them? Vote for who should be the sixth woman.

Today: Saugatuck.

Here is The Holland Sentinel's starting five. Vote for the sixth woman below. The poll will remain open until Jan. 24.

One of the best basketball players in area history, Capotosto was an all-state player multiple years for Saugatuck and was a two-time Holland Sentinel Player of the Year. She also was all-state in multiple sports, one of the most well-rounded athletes in area history. Capotosto could do it all. She controlled the game on both sides of the ball. She slashed to the basket and could shoot. Her outside shot improved year by year and she went on to play at the NCAA Division I Level at the University of Toledo where she was a starter and captain.

Kiri Tiemeyer

Center

A dominating force in the paint, Tiemeyer controlled the game on both sides of the ball. Her height and length allowed her to block and alter shots, while she could score over most defenders. Tiemeyer was Holland Sentinel Player of the Year and was an all-state honorable mention selection as a senior before going on to play at Wayne State.

Tristen Smith

Guard

Combining quickness with a deadly outside shot, Smith could glide to the basket faster than any of her opponents. The track star used her long strides to get past anyone in her way and helped Saugatuck finish her senior season 20-0. She went on to play at Spring Arbor.

Beth Masopust

Guard

One of the best distributing point guards in area history, Masopust was part of the 20-0 Saugatuck team that enjoyed a historical season. She could score, too, but her main job was to get the ball to the other three future college players on her team. She was also an elite defender and went on to play at Wheaton College.

Jenna Saarela

Forward

A true power forward, Saarela used her strength to be a force in the paint. She could be a go-to scorer and helped Saugatuck to a 20-0 season as a senior. She earned all-state honors and went on to play at Northern Michigan.
