Starting 5: Notre Dame basketball standout Sophia Gibson signs NIL marketing deal, more
Notre Dame Academy junior Sophia Gibson recently signed a deal with Pliable, a marketing company, to help her secure name, image and likeness deals and develop her brand as she heads to college and beyond.
Gibson, a 6-foot-4 center, has received offers from DePaul, Evansville, Lafayette and Yale. She is leading the Pandas (8-0 before Friday) in scoring (13.6 points per game on 61.8% shooting from the field) and rebounding (7.9 boards per game).
Around the city: Racing Louisville FC agrees to record transfer deal
Racing Louisville agreed to a franchise-record six-figure transfer deal to send forward Thembi Kgatlana to Mexican club Tigres UANL Femenil. The deal includes a sell-on clause and an add-on to the transfer fee if Kgatlana scores an undisclosed number of goals.

Kgatlana played in 16 games, starting seven, and was on the field for 979 minutes for Racing. She had two goals and two assists in her return to action after missing 10 months while she rehabbed a torn Achilles. Kgatlana was injured playing for Atletico Madrid in July 2022. She made her Racing debut May 6.
High school recruiting: Seventh grader Jayden McClain earns offer from Kentucky women's basketball
Jayden McClain, a seventh grader playing varsity for Ryle, announced she received an offer from Kentucky on Dec. 17. She also has received offers from Cincinnati, Mississippi State, Ohio State and Pittsburgh.

McClain, a 6-5 forward, is averaging 1.5 points and 4.2 rebounds per game for the Raiders.

Performance of the week: Oldham County's Max Green scores 33 points
Holy Cross signee Max Green recorded 33 points, six rebounds, five assists and three steals, leading Oldham County to a 77-41 win over Dixie Heights on Thursday at the Scott Winter Classic.
Green leads the Colonels (5-4 before Friday) and the commonwealth in scoring (30.6 points per game on 52% shooting from the field). He averages 6.1 rebounds per game.

Louisville native Tyran Stokes, a 6-7 sophomore forward, put on a show during the first day of the Tarkanian Classic in Las Vegas. The Louisville and Kentucky target helped lead Prolific Prep to a comeback 56-48 win over AZ Compass Prep, He tallied 15 points and six rebounds.
