These stars are off to good starts on the diamond: Vote for the Hometeam Baseball Player of the Week
The high school baseball season in Central Mass. got off to a solid start, despite a few weather delays, with plenty of area athletes showing they're already in midseason form. Jennifer Toland rounded up a few of the best performances for readers to vote on for the first Hometeam Baseball Player of the Week of the spring season.

Jake LeFrancois, St. Paul
The senior struck out four batters in two innings of scoreless relief and earned the win against Oxford.
Cam McLaughlin, Auburn
The junior’s two-out single in the ninth lifted the Rockets to a walk-off win over Millbury.
Aidan Mercado, South
The junior struck out 14 to lead the Colonels in a shutout of North.
Mike O’Connell, Doherty
The sophomore went 3 for 5 with 2 doubles and 2 RBIs to lead the Highlanders past Burncoat.
Ahmed Ortiz, Worcester Tech
The sophomore went 3 for 4 and drove in four runs to power the Eagles past Southbridge.
Eddie O’Rourke, Maynard
In the Tigers’ 4-1 win over Auburn, the sophomore allowed 1 earned run on 4 hits and struck out 9.
Cam Papetti, Worcester Academy
In the Hilltoppers’ doubleheader sweep of Citius Prep, the senior went 6 for 7 with a double, triple and seven RBIs.
Mike Rutkowski, Hopedale
The junior allowed one hit in 5-2/3 innings in the Blue Raiders’ 5-0 win over Bay Path.
Brady Shea, St. John’s
The senior hurled five scoreless innings, allowed one hit and struck out 10 to lead the Pioneers past Algonquin Regional in their opener.

Mikey Shufrin, Littleton
The junior struck out nine in a two-hit shutout of Quabbin.
Brian Silvester, Clinton
The sophomore pitched six no-hit innings in a win over North Middlesex Regional and singled and scored in the Gaels’ three-run sixth.
Matt Tiberii, Quaboag
The senior collected three hits and scored five runs as the Cougars opened 2-0.
Alex Vosburgh, Valley Tech
In the Beavers’ win over Bellingham, the junior had three hits, including a three-run triple that sparked a six-run fourth inning.
Grady Walsh, Uxbridge
The junior hurled a three-hit shutout to lift the Spartans past Douglas.
Isaac Xu, Bromfield School
The junior threw a one-hit shutout and struck out 13 to lead the Trojans past Gardner in their opener.
