Karsonovich won the online voting with more than 33% of the votes, totaling 210 to capture first place. Portsmouth field hockey freshman Shiloh Weinstein finished second with 157 votes.

Newmarket soccer player Olivia Blackadar (92), Dover volleyball player Aidyn Stone (91) and Exeter field hockey player Dani Caron (84) finished third through fifth, respectively.

Karsonovich scored five goals to lead the Saints to a 7-1 defeat of Bishop Brady in a Division III clash last Tuesday. She added two goals with one assist in the Saints' 6-0 win over White Mountain last Friday.

"Maddie has had an incredibly strong start to the season. She gets a lot of attention from our opponents and is frequently marked by the other team’s most physical defender," St. Thomas Aquinas head coach Patrick Hureau said. "She deals with an extreme amount of contact at times, but is able to power through without complaint. I am probably most proud of her resiliency and mental focus. She often plays the entire game, and her intensity level doesn’t change. Maddie absolutely deserves to be recognized as player of the week. I can’t wait to see what she does as the season progresses."
