South Carolina baseball vs. Tennessee Vols: Live score updates from final SEC series

COLUMBIA — South Carolina baseball is in a slump, and the team gets one more opportunity this weekend to regain some momentum against Tennessee before the SEC Tournament begins.

The No. 9 Gamecocks (37-15, 15-11 SEC) dropped their first game with the No. 19 Vols (36-17, 14-13) on Friday at Founders Park 5-0. It was South Carolina's first shutout loss of the season, with Tennessee pitcher Andrew Lindsey logging five strikeouts and allowing just three hits. The Gamecocks threw five different pitchers, hoping to preserve the veterans to win the series Saturday.

The second and third games in the series will be played as a doubleheader Saturday (2 p.m., SEC Network+), with Game 3 beginning an hour after the conclusion of Game 2. Both will be seven innings.

South Carolina needs a victory to have a shot at hosting an NCAA Tournament regional after losing nine of their last 12 games and their last three SEC series. The Gamecocks are coming off of a 2-1 loss at Arkansas, while Tennessee earned a 2-1 win over Kentucky last weekend.
