Sources: Isaiah Canaan agrees to deal with Thunder
Free-agent guard Isaiah Canaan has agreed to a non-guaranteed deal with the Oklahoma City Thunder, league sources told The Vertical.
Canaan is expected to compete with Semaj Christon for the third point guard spot on the Thunder, and will report to Oklahoma City on Sunday, league sources said. Canaan and the Thunder finalized an agreement one day after free-agent guard Trey Burke changed course on the same deal with the team.
Canaan had fluctuating minutes over 37 regular-season games for the Chicago Bulls in 2016-17, but emerged as a key contributor in the postseason. Canaan had a starting role in the absence of Rajon Rondo, and averaged 11.7 points in three games in Chicago’s first-round loss to Boston.
Canaan has played four NBA seasons for Houston, Philadelphia and Chicago, averaging 8.4 points and 1.6 assists.
