Social media reacts to Texas’ 31-24 victory over Houston
Longhorns fan, you can exhale.
No. 8 Texas scrapes by with a 31-24 win over the Houston Cougars that ended on a questionable call by the officials.
On a 3rd and 1 at the Texas 10-yard line, Houston running back Stacy Sneed ran up the middle in what seemed to be a first down. He was marked short of the line to gain and forced Houston into a fourth-down situation, resulting in an incomplete pass.
The Longhorns started off hot, scoring on three of their first four drives. That’s when it spiraled out of control for Texas.
Head coach Steve Sarkisian got a little cute with his playcalling and tried a fake field goal with 3:26 left in the first half which he failed to convert. Houston then capitalized on it with a nine-play, 75-yard drive for a touchdown.
