Social media reacts to Oklahoma’s ‘UNITY’ alternate ahead of the Kansas game

In the modern world of football, NFL teams and college football programs are looking to create unique ways to change up their look. While tradition remains a key part of college football, the University of Oklahoma found an inspired way to create an alternate uniform that also honors a legend of the program.

Yesterday, the Oklahoma Sooners released their latest alternate uniform, honoring former Oklahoma Sooner Prentice Gautt. Gautt, was the first black scholarship football player in the program, starring at running back for Bud Wilkinson from 1956 to 1959.

The uniform was created to promote unity across the University of Oklahoma campus and the anthracite look matches alternates worn by other programs within the athletic department.

While there are some that don’t care for the idea of Oklahoma Football wearing an alternate uniform, the overwhelming response to the “UNITY” alternate has been positive.

Here’s how social media reacted!
