Social media reactions to UNC’s statement win over Minnesota

The North Carolina Tar Heels hosted the Minnesota Gophers, and it was the ideal game for UNC as they displayed a significant attack on both sides of the ball.

Fans have been hoping to see a complete game by UNC’s offense, with the running game leading the charge for the first two games. They were in for a treat early, with Drake Maye passing for more yards ( 287) in the first half than he had in total in the 40-34 double-overtime win over Appalachian State (208).

UNC’s Nate McCollum had social media buzzing with a career day. Finishing with 15 catches for 165 yards. Meanwhile Maye kept pouring it on with 414 passing yards, the second time he’s eclipsed 400+ passing yards.

It wasn’t all great, though, for the offense, with Maye throwing two interceptions in the first half. Despite the uncanny turnovers, UNC’s defense kept the Gophers grounded.

UNC cooked up exactly what they needed to boost their status on the AP Top 25 poll. They delivered a statement game at home on both sides of the ball to beat Minnesota 31-13. It’s safe to say that UNC fans left with smiles as they sent the Gophers back to Minnesota with an L.

Let’s look at how social media reacted to the statement win.
