Sixers will officially face Nets in Round 1 after Heat fell to Wizards

The Philadelphia 76ers now officially know their playoff opponent for Round 1 of the NBA Playoffs. The Brooklyn Nets are officially locked into the No. 6 seed as they claim the final guaranteed playoff spot in the East with the Miami Heat falling to the Washington Wizards.

The Heat, after they defeated the Sixers rather easily on Thursday, rested Jimmy Butler, Bam Adebayo, Tyler Herro, Kevin Love, and Kyle Lowry for this matchup with the Wizards and dropped the contest 114-108. Their loss clinched the No. 6 seed for the Nets and it locked the Heat into the play-in tournament.

The Nets are currently leading the Orlando Magic by a wide margin so even if the Heat did defeat the Wizards, Brooklyn was on pace to clinch the final spot by themselves anyway.

The Sixers and the Nets will match up in the season finale on Sunday at the Barclays Center in what will be a meaningless contest for both teams. It will be tough to envision either team playing any of their regulars for that one.
