Sixers give update on Buddy Hield after leaving late in loss to Kings

The Philadelphia 76ers were dealt another blow in Monday’s 108-96 loss to the Sacramento Kings. Entering the contest missing Joel Embiid, De’Anthony Melton, and Robert Covington, they lost another key piece toward the end of the game.

Buddy Hield, who had seven points and five rebounds off the bench, limped to the locker room late in the fourth quarter. That is not a good sign for a team that’s dealing with so much at the moment. The Sixers need Hield healthy to give production with Embiid out at the moment.

“He hurt his ankle and he’s getting X-rayed right now,” coach Nick Nurse told reporters after the loss. “We’ll update that when we know.”

The Sixers then gave an update that Hield’s X-rays came back negative. As Philadelphia heads home for a rematch with the Los Angeles Clippers, it remains to be seen what his status will be for the matchup.

If Hield is out for any extended period of time, it certainly won’t help Philadelphia’s cause at the moment. It will just be another challenge and another piece of adversity that the Sixers will have to overcome under the guidance of Nurse.
