Sisseton and Elkton-Lake Benton also cruise to season-opening victories

SCOTLAND — Brock Christopherson ran for 127 yards and two touchdowns to lead third-rated Class 11B Sioux Valley to a season-opening 42-0 high school football win over Scotland-Menno on Thursday.

Christopherson, who had only 11 carries, scored on runs of three and 14 yards. Donovan Rose (four yards), Maverick Nelson (six yards), Wyatt Hardt (six yards) and Boden Schiller (59 yards) added TD runs for the Cossacks.

Sioux Valley racked up 437 yards of offense (398 on the ground) and limited the Trappers to 95 yards and four first downs.

Schiller contributed 121 yards rushing on six carries and Rose, 55 on nine carries.

Hudsyn Ruesink and Braden Danzeisen each made eight tackles and Chris Hornick six for Sioux Valley's defense, which also got fumble recoveries from Mitchell Guthmiller and Tobin Squires.

Logan Sayler tallied 11 tackles, Jayce Wallach eight and Kade Odens seven for Scotland-Menno. Trent Guthmiller recovered a fumble.

Sisseton 40, Dakota Hills 0: The Redmen opened their season by rolling to the big victory over the Grizzlies. No other details were reported.

Elkton-Lake Benton 56, Colman-Egan 16: The Elks also prevailed in their season opener, handling the Hawks. No other details were reported.
