Sinclair hits out at 'poor statement' from Juventus over Ronaldo
Trevor Sinclair hit out at Juventus after they released a statement in support of Cristiano Ronaldo after he was accused of rape.
Kathryn Mayorga accused Ronaldo of attacking her in June 2009 and came forward with her allegation this week.
In response, Juventus tweeted a statement in support of their record signing, saying:
“Ronaldo has shown in recent months his great professionalism and dedication, which is appreciated by everyone at Juventus. The events allegedly dating back to almost 10 years ago do not change this opinion, which is shared by anyone who has come into contact with this great champion.”

However, Nike and EA Sports have released less supportive messages.
Nike said: “We are deeply concerned by the disturbing allegations and will continue to closely monitor the situation.”
Computer game producer EA stated: “We have seen the concerning report that details allegations against Cristiano Ronaldo.
“We are closely monitoring the situation, as we expect cover athletes and ambassadors to conduct themselves in a manner that is consistent with EA’s values.”
On Yahoo’s The Football Show, former Manchester City player Trevor Sinclair said he was disappointed with the statement from Ronaldo’s club.
“I think it was typical of a football club, to look after their asset,” Sinclair said.
“Which is a shame really, because the law of the land is the law of the land.
“It doesn’t matter if you’re a superstar footballer, you still have to abide by those laws.
“That was a poor statement from Juventus.”
