Shaquem Griffin met with adorable young 1-handed Seahawks fan in Florida

Seattle Seahawks linebacker Shaquem Griffin made history this season, becoming the first one-handed player ever selected in the NFL draft.

Yet as he’s proven time and time again, what the 23-year-old has done off the field is as big of an inspiration as what he does on it for fans across the country.

While meeting with fans back in Jacksonville, Florida on Saturday, Griffin met a young Seahawks fan, Joseph, who is also missing part of his arm.

After a little nudge, Joseph eventually walked over to Griffin to say hi. When he finally did, the moment was priceless.

Griffin had 18 total tackles in 16 games for the Seahawks this season, his first in the league. In his final two years at UCF, Griffin recorded 166 total tackles for the Golden Knights, and helped lead them to an undefeated season in 2017. He was born with amniotic band syndrome, and had to have his left hand amputated shortly after birth.

Ever since he joined the NFL, Griffin has become a role model for young fans with missing limbs everywhere. One young fan missing part of his right arm in Washington even broke down in tears upon receiving his jersey for his birthday.

In less than a year, Griffin has proven to be one of the best, most inspiring stories surrounding the league — and that doesn’t look like it’ll be slowing down anytime soon.

And while young Joseph may not remember the moment, it’s certainly one his family will likely cherish for years to come.
