SERIES RECAP: Alabama sweeps Ole Miss to end regular season on a strong note

Amidst the turmoil of the Brad Bohannon gambling drama, the Alabama baseball team has somehow managed to begin to play some of its best ball of the 2023 season. The Crimson Tide wrapped up a series sweep of the Ole Miss Rebels on Friday night to finish the 2023 regular season with back-to-back SEC series wins.

In fact, since the firing of coach Bohannon, the Alabama baseball team is 8-2 and currently owns a five-game winning streak. Over the course of said winning streak, the Crimson Tide has outscored its opponents 44-5.

Let’s quickly recap Alabama’s series sweep of the Rebels as the Tide now prepares for the SEC tournament!

Game 1: Alabama 4, Ole Miss 1

Alabama’s early offense helped starting pitcher Luke Holman settle into the game. Holeman pitched 6.2 innings and allowed just one run on four hits and four walks with five strikeouts.

Game 2: Alabama 12, Ole Miss 2

Alabama quickly jumped out to an 8-0 lead through three innings. Senior pitcher Garrett McMillan allowed one run on five hits and three walks with three strikeouts across 5.2 innings of work.

Game 3: Alabama 5, Ole Miss 1

The bats cooled off a little for Alabama on game two of Friday night’s doubleheader, but the Tide was still able to secure the series sweep of the Rebels with a 5-1 victory. Jacob McNairy gave up just five hits and issued two walks with six strikeouts before turning the ball over to the bullpen after 5.2 innings of work.
