Saturday highlights for Watertown and Aberdeen area high school volleyball teams

HAMLIN — Florence-Henry went 4-0 in the Hamlin Invitational volleyball tournament on Saturday.

The Falcons posted 2-0 wins over Sisseton (25-22, 25-22) and James Valley Christian (25-23, 25-23) and 2-1 wins over Groton Area (18-25, 25-19, 25-23) and host Hamlin (22-25, 25-17, 25-13).

Falcon leaders in the tourney included Caylin Kelly with 65 kills and six solo and three block assists. She also accumulated more than 40 digs. Kaija Gusso added 93 assists and 49 digs, and Taylor Watson had 36 kills.

Groton Area finished 3-1, beating Castlewood 2-0 (25-21, 29-27), Colman-Egan 2-0 (25-16, 25-23) and Tiospa Zina Tribal 2-0 (25-12, 25-15).

Ipswich Subway Invite

IPSWICH — Milbank compiled a 4-0 record in the Ipswich Subway Invitational on Saturday.

The Bulldogs earned 2-0 wins over Kimball-White Lake (25-23, 25-23), Langford Area (25-9, 25-18) and Lemmon (25-20, 25-16) and a 2-1 win over North Central (25-16, 25-27, 25-9).

Milbank leaders in the tourney included Rachel Schulte, 44 assists, 34 digs, four block assists and 42 digs; Addisyn Krause, 45 assists, 13 aces and 43 digs; Ella Sandvig, 38 digs; Shaylee Schuchard, four aces and 17 digs; and Skyler Skoog 36 kills and 21 digs. All stats are four-match totals except for digs (three matches only).

Bon Homme Invitational

TYNDALL — Third-rated Class B Northwestern went 4-1 in the Bon Homme Invitational on Saturday.

The Wildcats (12-5) recorded 2-0 wins over Gregory (25-15, 25-15), Beresford (25-12, 25-15) and Alcester-Hudson (25-14, 25-18) and a 2-1 win over Bon Homme (25-22, 25-27, 25-17). They lost 2-0 to Platte-Geddes (26-25, 25-14).

Tourney leaders for the Wildcats included Tara Blachford, 12 aces and 29 digs; Ashley Haven, 42 kills, 37 digs, one solo block and nine block assists; Payton Grandpre, 21 kills and 39 digs; Ella Boekelheide, 90 assists and eight block assists; and Ana Ratigan, 17 kills.

Big Dakota Conference

FORT PIERRE — Miller capped a 4-0 day by beating unbeaten Mobridge-Pollock 25-19, 25-16 in the championship game of the Big Dakota Conference tournament.

Miller (10-2) also topped Cheyenne-Eagle Butter 25-11, 25-12; McLaughlin 25-11, 25-8; and Winner 25-19, 25-22.

All-tourney players for Miller included Heather Resel, 60 assists, 23 digs and seven aces; Aleah Schlechter, 32 kills; and Gracen Werdel, 11 kills.

Mobridge-Pollock (12-1) posted wins over Crow Creek 25-11, 25-2; Chamberlain 25-4, 25-9; and Winner 25-13, 25-18 before losing to Miller.

Lake Preston Invite

Other area teams were scheduled to play Saturday in the Lake Preston invitational.
