Saints' Drew Brees sets NFL record for most completions
Drew Brees came into this season within striking distance of a couple of NFL passing records, and in the first half of Sunday’s game, the New Orleans Saints quarterback rose to the top of the list in one category.
Most completions in league history
Midway through the second quarter, Brees completed a pass to Michael Thomas (who else has he been completing them to this season?) that was the 6,301st completion of his career.
That broke a tie with Brett Favre for most completions in NFL history.
Brees hit that number in just 251 career games, while Favre did it in 302.
The next record Brees gets will likely be passing yards, though it won’t happen on Sunday: with 243 in the first half, he has 71,370 in his career and is less than 600 yards from Peyton Manning’s mark of 71,940.
