Sadie Engelhardt, Ventura set national track records at Mt. SAC Relays

Ventura's Sadie Engelhardt set the national high school federation record for the girls 1,600 at the Mount San Antonio College Relays on Friday. She also set the record for the outdoor mile and anchored Ventura’s record-setting 4,000 distance medley team.

Ventura High brought home three national federation high school track and field records from the 64th Mount San Antonio College Relays over the weekend.

Sadie Engelhardt set two records in the same race.

The junior set national high school federation records for the girls 1,600 (4 minutes, 29.86 seconds) and the outdoor mile (4:31.72) on Friday.

The time for the 1,600 bettered her own national record of 4:32.48 set on April 6 at the Arcadia Invitational. The mile time ranks No. 4 on the year's Under-20 world list.

On Saturday, Ventura won the invitational girls 4,000 distance medley with a national-record 11:21.85, winning the race by 33 seconds. The previous record was 11:22.23 set by Harvard-Westlake in 2011.

Members of the relay were Melanie True, Valentina Fakogha, Aelo Curtis and Engelhardt. Engelhardt's anchor split was 4:33.95.

Among other top performances among area athletes:

  • Camarillo set a meet record for the seeded 4x800 relay (7:54.53).

  • Oaks Christian bettered the meet record in the seeded 4x100 relay (46.36).

  • Calabasas won the girls invitational 4x100 relay (46.02) and 4x200 relay (1:37.17).

  • Ventura won the boys invitational 4,000 distance medley (9:59.51) and the invitational 4x1600 relay (17:23.17).

Boys results

Newbury Park: Arnav Shetty was fourth in the invitational 3,200 (912.84). The Panthers placed 12th in the invitational 4x800 relay (8:04.59).

Channel Islands: Uriel Texis was 22nd in the invitational 3,200 (9:40.98).

Westlake: Cade Sommers tied for second in the invitational pole vault (16-0). Lawson Grace was second in the seeded shot put (53-9.50) and 13th in the seeded discus (135-7). Ylian Ostojic was third in the rated 400 (49.45). The Warriors placed second in the seeded 4x100 relay (41.96) and fifth in the seeded 4x400 (3:25.37).

Oxnard: Luis Aguilera was 15th in the invitational shot put (48-8). The Yellowjackets placed 19th in the seeded 4x100 relay (42.92).

Thousand Oaks: The Lancers placed 20th in the seeded 4x100 relay (42.93).

Camarillo: Diego Montag placed seventh in the seeded 800 (1:57.32).

Agoura: Darrick Jacob was 13th in the seeded 800 (1:58.13).

Ventura: Erik MuroMurillo of Ventura placed second in the seeded discus (152-6) and sixth in the invitational shot put (54-11.75).

Fillmore: Anthony Tafoya was ninth in the seeded discus (138-7).

Moorpark: Davis Benson tied for first in the seeded high jump (6-0).

Calabasas: Kingston Celifie was fifth in the invitational 400 (48.30).

Hueneme: J.R. Lesher was 20th in the invitational mile (4:19.13).

Girls results

Oaks Christian: Rayah Rodriguez was second in the invitational 400 (55.36). Kyra Terry was sixth in the seeded 200 (24.93). Niya Clayton was eighth in the invitational 100 (11.91).

Oxnard: Natalie Estrella was seventh in the seeded shot put (35-5.50). Valeria Rodriguez was 12th in the seeded long jump (15-8). The Yellowjackets placed third in its heat of the seeded 4x100 relay (48.73)

Calabasas: Marley Scoggins was third in the seeded 100 (11.91). Lahela Ray was fourth in the rated 100 (12.42).

Newbury Park: The Panthers placed second in the invitational 4x800 (9:14.90) and eighth in the invitational 4x1600 relay (22:33.16). Sophia Grant was eighth in the seeded 800 (2:14.02). Abigail Pace was fifth in the rated 100 hurdles (15.49).

Ventura: Fakrogha was second in the invitational high jump (5-6) and won the seeded 400 (56.33). True was 10th in the invitational 800 (2:14.35). Curtis (4:57.42) and Tiffany Sax (4:59.43) were 10th and 16th in the invitational mile. The Cougars placed fifth in the invitational 4x1600 relay (22:20.54).

Camarillo: Trinity Tipton placed third in the invitational discus (141-10). The Scorpions placed 18th in the seeded 4x800 (10:12.03).

Thousand Oaks: Taylor Dominguez tied for sixth in the seeded pole vault (10-8). Madison Thai tied for fifth in the invitational high jump (5-4). Morgan Quinn was sixth in the seeded 400 (57.85). The Lancers placed ninth in the invitational 4x400 relay (4:10.95).

Westlake: Claudia Turner tied for fourth in the invitational pole vault (11-10). Amanda Eames was 12th in the invitational long jump (16-6.50)
