The Rush: LeBron James picks up a new roommate during Lakers Media Day

The NBA season officially kicked off with Media Day taking place for teams around the league. There was no hotter ticket in Los Angeles than Lakers Media Day on Monday, with a frenzied hoard of media packed like a can of sardines into a Staples Center press room, all there to see freshly minted Laker, LeBron James.

LeBron was already in mid-season “I don’t give a s**t” form, answering questions with perhaps the most boring replies possible. His monotone was on point though.

The Rush’s own Jared Quay went down to Staples Center (okay…not really, it’s just the magic of green screen) to talk to LeBron about real-life stuff. Jared is a total fanboy, so you can imagine it didn’t go so well. Check out the video to see Jared make a complete fool of himself in front of the GOAT.

Things are even worse in San Francisco as the 49ers found out they’re losing their franchise QB for the entire season. Jimmy Garoppolo tore his ACL during the Niners’ week 3 contest against Kansas City. Adding insult to injury is the fact that Garoppolo is due to cash in $40 MILLION dollars, which includes his base salary plus signing bonus, all wrapped into the 5-year deal he inked in February.

Ever the optimists, we here at The Rush want to spin a sad story into something a bit more positive, so we compiled a list of ways in which Jimmy G can spend that money during a year off the field in the most expensive city in the country, good ol’ San Francisco. We think he’ll be aight.
