The Rush: Historic sports moment comes with a twist

Lorena Wiebes made history, becoming the first woman to win a Tour de France stage in 33 years, and she brought a special little someone up for her yellow jersey photo. The series between the Diamondbacks and Nationals got interesting after Madison Bumgarner took issue with Victor Robles’ home run celebration on Saturday, leading to a “clown show” on Sunday. Las Vegas Aces star Kelsey Plum received a swag bag from Tom Brady and her celebration couldn’t be any more pure. PLUS: Klay Thompson is clearly enjoying his offseason as he chugged beer at the Giants vs. Dodgers game and celebrated his brother Trayce helping L.A. get the win.

- He's not hiding. He's right there, enjoying him-- nobody enjoys life the way that Klay Thompson does.

- Driven to right center field, towards the gap, and they retake the lead. And Klay loves it.

JARED QUAY: For the first time in 33 years, the women's Tour de France has returned.

- It's about damn time.

JARED QUAY: Lorena Wiebes out of the Netherlands beat out two-time Olympic champ Marianne Vos to win the first stage in Paris. And the Dutch cyclist's yellow jacket photo is iconic. Not only is it the first photo of a woman winning the Tour de France stage in a long ass time, but she's celebrating with her kid and a giant stuffed lion.

- Aww.

JARED QUAY: Wait, wait, wait, what? That's not her kid? No wonder the kid is making that face. I'm not sure I can get behind winners stealing children to complete their victory photos. Oh, it's her friend's child.

OK. Apparently, they agree that if Wiebes won the stage, she would bring up the kid to the podium. Using other people's kids as podium props is a thing now? Just when you think you've seen it all.

Baseball might have celebrated its Hall of Fame induction this weekend, but in my humble opinion, all the good baseball stuff was in the Nationals-Diamondbacks series. On Saturday, Washington's outfielder Victor Robles hit a home run off Arizona's Madison Bumgarner, a.k.a. MadBum. And MadBum didn't like how Robles celebrated the meaningless dinger with Washington down 6.

- What did you think of Robles' reaction to that home run?

MADISON BUMGARNER: He's a clown. Golly. No shame. No shame. It's 7 to 1, you hit your third homer of the year, you act like Barry Bonds breaking the record. Clean it up.

JARED QUAY: Damn. Calling someone a clown because you don't like how they celebrated a home run? Well, Robles may have got the last laugh, because he showed up to Sunday's game wearing a clown nose.

- Who's the clown now?

JARED QUAY: The trolling must have worked because the Nats got the win 4 to 3 over the Diamondbacks. And I'm just going to say it. These petty-ass fights are going to save America's pastime, so keep it up, gentlemen.

Who wouldn't want to receive a swag bag from Tom Brady?

[BUZZER]

Maybe Bill Belichick. But anyone else would love some TB12 gear. If you want proof of that look, no further than Las Vegas star Kelsey Plum acting like a kid on Christmas.

KELSEY PLUM: [LAUGHS] Yeah!

JARED QUAY: That's just a good, wholesome reaction. I mean, jerseys are expensive, like $130 expensive. So if you get one from the GOAT for free, I would say I'd be pretty pumped too. If anything, you can sell it to make a quick buck. In fact, you might make a lot of bucks.

You know inflation is high, that's an autographed jersey by the GOAT, you'd probably get at least $1,000 off that. But, I mean, what would you buy with that? Because inflation is high. You can't even put it-- you know, I mean, these days, you can't even get a couple of cheeseburgers from In-N-Out.
