Roman Reigns as Tony Soprano? Rock as Sil? Which WWE superstars are Sopranos characters.
It’s Wrestlemania weekend.
For the first time since 1999, WWE is holding its biggest event of the year in Philadelphia. And just as it was that year, as the Rock would say, “professional wrestling is cool again.”
This weekend, Lincoln Financial Field hosts what could be the biggest Wrestlemania of all time.
There are a lot of reasons this should be a fun event.
WWE has a loaded roster and it only got better since the Rock returned. On Saturday night, he’ll tag up with his cousin Roman Reigns in a match against Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins.
On Sunday, Reigns will wrestle Rhodes in the main event.
The Rock has been calling himself the “Final Boss” in recent weeks, and whenever I hear that term, I think of the Skip, Tony Soprano.
What if WWE wrestlers were Sopranos characters?
We gave this much thought, and came up with a few names.
Roman Reigns
While he’s been a top earner for years, there’s little doubt who runs North Jersey. It doesn’t matter who gets let out of the can or who does what, nobody wields more power than our Tribal Chief. Roman Reigns is Tony Soprano.
“The Rock”
Dwayne Johnson might be the final boss, but he’s playing second fiddle to his younger cousin. Still, you don’t get much bigger, and something tells me he’d be a great owner of the Bing. “The Rock” is Silvio Dante.
Paul Heyman
He provides counsel to the boss. He has experience working with the boss’ elders, and while nobody questions the boss, it’s good to have experience in your corner. Paul Heyman is Hesh Rabkin
Cody Rhodes
The American Nightmare was a pragmatist and smart as a whip. He doesn’t like to stick his beak into problems, but ever since he became the top good guy (acting boss!), I don’t know, he’s changed. Cody Rhodes is Johnny Sacrimoni.
Seth Rollins
If you ask me, the MVP of Wrestlemania season has been this guy. But he is the cause of all the problems. His boy Rhodes was going to give his match to the Rock until Rollins talked the Royal Rumble into not compromising. He’s been gone a long time (well it seemed long, we really missed him when he had the knee injury), and now he’s back. Seth Rollins is Phil Leotardo
Jimmy Uso
A great guy willing to blindly follow his boss’ orders, but still sometimes does dumb things. I bet he’d look great in an orange vest. Jimmy Uso is Bobby Baccalieri.
Jey Uso
A family member who was a loyal soldier, but in the end, couldn’t be trusted. He had cowboyitis, and it led to mistakes by the family until ultimately, the boss had to take him out. Jey was weak, out of control, and he became an embarrassment to the entire Bloodline. Jey Uso is Christopher Moltisanti.
Sami Zayn
Zayn is one of the good guys, he just got mixed up with the crew. I blame Jey Uso for Zayn getting involved with the Bloodline, but it was up to Roman Reigns to make things right. Sami Zayn is Adriana La Cerva
Kevin Owens
He did everything he could to get in close with Zayn to bring down the bloodline. He became Zayn’s best friend. And eventually, he helped bring him down. Kevin Owens is Deborah Ciccerone-Waldrup, AKA, Danielle from Wippany.
Solo Sikoa
The quiet man protects Roman Reigns through everything. It seems like he’ll always be the enforcer, though there are times it seems he wants what Roman has. Solo Sikoa is Furio Giunta.
