Rickie Fowler returning for 2024 Rocket Mortgage Classic in Detroit, tickets on sale now

Rickie Fowler is returning to Detroit to try to defend his crown.

Fowler will play in the 2024 Rocket Mortgage Classic along with fellow PGA Tour winners Tom Kim and Will Zalatoris, the tournament announced Monday. The Rocket Mortgage Classic will take place June 25-30 at the Detroit Golf Club for the sixth year straight.

Fowler broke a four-year drought without a win at the 2023 Rocket Mortgage Classic, beating out Colin Morikawa and Adam Hadwin in a one-hole playoff to clinch the win. He finished the tournament with two memorable approach shots that led to two birdies on No. 18 on the final hole of the tournament and the ensuing playoff.

Kim, a South Korean native, is one of the rising stars on the Tour with three tournament wins at 21 years old. He is ranked 23rd in the Official World Golf Ranking (OWGR). Zalatoris, ranked 30th, has returned from a back injury that cut 2023 short and has returned to form with three top-10 finishes this year, including the Masters.

The trio of golfers are the first official announcements for the field that had over 150 participants in last year’s tournament.

“We are excited to welcome fans back to the Rocket Mortgage Classic this summer. It will be amazing to have Rickie join us again after the showstopping performance he put on during Sunday’s final round last year, along with some other top names,” Jason Langwell, executive director of the Rocket Mortgage Classic, said in a released statement. “We are expecting another terrific field, and the momentum will only continue to grow as we look forward to our sixth tournament right here in the heart of Detroit. It’s hard to believe we’re just 50 days away from opening our gates to fans, and we encourage everyone to get their tickets early.”

Tickets are now on sale for the event and can be purchased online. Grounds tickets start at $65 per day. All tickets are digital and day-specific. Kids 15 and under receive complimentary grounds admission when accompanied by a ticketed adult (up to four kids per adult) Thursday-Sunday.

Starting May 27, active, reserve, retired and veteran military can reserve these tickets for themselves and a guest while the tickets last.

There are also passes available for the LendingTree Lounge starting at $120, where fans can watch the final stretch of holes in either indoor or outdoor seating with hospitality options. The Club Ace passes are $250 and offer shaded viewing of the 15th and 16th holes with food and drink options.

Additionally, Rocket Mortgage announced that admission and parking for the final round of the John Shippen National Invitational on June 23 will be free. The John Shippen events began in 2021 to highlight the best Black men's and women's golfers in the country. It was recently announced that the tournament will now offer cash prizes to the top-three finishes as well as a spot in the field at the Rocket Mortgage Classic for the winner of the men's event.
