Report: Spurs unlikely to match Grizzlies' offer on Anderson

The San Antonio Spurs are expected to pass on matching a four-year, $37.2 million offer sheet signed by forward Kyle Anderson, according to the San Antonio Express-News.

The Spurs have until midnight Sunday to decide whether to match the offer from the Memphis Grizzlies.

According to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, the first to report the signing, the offer uses the Grizzlies' full midlevel exception -- and includes a 15 percent trade kicker (additional money paid to a player should he be traded).

The Spurs had reportedly hoped to keep Anderson on a deal worth somewhere around $5 million annually.

The decision is particularly critical with the club reportedly listening to offers for Kawhi Leonard. Anderson was expected to be the primary beneficiary in terms of impact and playing time should the team part ways with Leonard.

Anderson, 24, has increased his scoring in each of his four seasons in San Antonio, averaging 7.9 points in 74 games last season. He also set career highs in starts (67), minutes (26.7 per game), rebounds (5.4), assists (2.7) and steals (1.6) last season.

The Spurs selected Anderson 30th overall out of UCLA in the 2014 draft.

The team also lost veteran Tony Parker this week, with the point guard leaving San Antonio after 17 seasons to take a two-year, $10 million deal with the Charlotte Hornets.
