Report: MSU basketball to play preseason scrimmage against Tennessee

Before the Spartans officially tip off the 2022-23 season, they’ll head to Knoxville, Tenn. for a preseason scrimmage.

Mike Wilson of The Knoxville News Sentinel reported on Saturday morning that Michigan State and Tennessee have agreed to a multi-year, home-and-home closed-door scrimmage series. The Spartans will head to Tennessee this year, and the Volunteers will come to East Lansing, Mich. next year.

There isn’t a known date of this scrimmage at this time, and as always this will be closed to the public by NCAA rules. In the past, stats and notes have leaked from these preseason scrimmages so I’m sure we will get details after the scrimmage has been played.

Michigan State officially opens the season on Nov. 7 against Northern Arizona. The Spartans will also play Grand Valley State on Nov. 1 in a preseason exhibition game.
