Report: Knicks have discussed acquiring Tobias Harris from Sixers

It’s no secret that Philadelphia 76ers forward Tobias Harris is making a ton of money for a guy who has never made an All-Star game or has ever approached that type of level, but he is also a very productive player and an important piece to what the Sixers do.

His name also constantly pops up in trade rumors. Not due to his lack of play, but due to the contract. It comes with the nature of being a player with that type of deal.

The New York Knicks, who the Sixers just knocked off on Christmas Day, have reportedly had an interest in Harris per Ian Begley of SNY:

The Knicks, at least talked internally, about the idea of acquiring Tobias Harris via trade before their winning streak started, and obviously Harris having a nice game against the Knicks on Christmas Day. Tom Thibodeau spoke highly of him before the game so that’s just one name to keep an eye on.

Just specifically to Harris, I know that he does have some fans in the organization. He’s making a lot of money. It would be a big trade to pull off salary-wise, but it’s at least something the Knicks have kicked around internally prior to this past winning streak.

At this point, it can be tough to see the Sixers actually trade Harris. Despite his big deal, he has proven to be an important piece to this team’s success and the idea is that he will continue to grow in his role as Philadelphia moves forward with its title quest.
