Redskins re-sign LB Foster to 2-year deal

The Washington Redskins announced the re-signing of linebacker Mason Foster on Thursday.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed, but multiple reports say it's a two-year contract. Foster's base salary will be $4 million on the deal, and he can earn up to $7 million, according to a report from NFL Network.

Foster tweeted an image of himself signing the contract.

"This is my family & I couldn't imagine being anywhere else," he said in a separate tweet Thursday.

Foster, 28, was limited to five games last season because of a torn labrum in his shoulder suffered in Week 2 that eventually required surgery. He recorded a career-high 124 tackles in 2016.

For his seven-year career, the first four seasons of which were spent with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers before joining the Redskins after being cut from a short stint with the Chicago Bears, Foster has 535 tackles, 7.5 sacks, six interceptions and four forced fumbles.

The Redskins have fellow linebackers Zach Brown and Will Compton set to hit free agency this offseason. Washington has already had discussions with Brown on a new deal, but there "seems to be a gap" in the negotiations, according to a report from ESPN last week.
