Raptors’ Fred VanVleet reacts to Sixers hiring Nick Nurse as head coach

The Philadelphia 76ers made their decision on their new head coach. The Sixers decided to move on from Doc Rivers after three seasons on the job, and they replaced him with former Toronto Raptors coach Nick Nurse.

Nurse is an innovative thinker and he gets the most out of his rosters. He guided the Raptors to their first NBA title in 2019, kept Toronto competitive even after Kawhi Leonard left, and has a career record of 227-163. He now looks to lead the Sixers on a deep playoff run.

Raptors star Fred VanVleet, who enjoyed a great deal of success during his time with Nurse, reacted to the Sixers making the hire.

VanVleet was an All-Star in 2022 for Toronto and Nurse helped him unlock his game. He was an integral part of the title run.

Nurse should be able to come up with numerous schemes to help Joel Embiid flourish in the playoffs, and, if James Harden returns, the Sixers will try to finally get over that second round hump.
