Rams Finally Pull The Plug On The Troubled Tre Mason
Rams running back Tre Mason popped up in a news alert, which was only surprising in that he’d long been separated from any thoughts regarding the team in Los Angeles.
The one time running back, and pretty good compliment to rookie Todd Gurley, was officially waived by the Rams, ending a bizarre and problematic tenure for the former player.
Until recently, the team had only minimal contact with Tre since the end of the 2015 season. Any news regarding Mason was of the police blotter variety, marking a troubling and turbulent time for the former Auburn running back.
A story in AL.com quotes General Manager Les Snead as saying the organization had met with Tre “within the last month.”

According to the sorry, the team came to the conclusion that waiving Mason was in the best interest of all parties.
Mason has had a variety of law enforcement issues going back to March of last year when he was arrested for marijuana possession. He had a warrant for not showing up for a court appearance, as well as five visits to his residence by local police. In a story at NFL Trade Rumors.co, Tina Mason, Tre’s mother, contends that numerous head injury have left her son with the mindset of a “10-year old.”
The Rams had placed Mason on the Reserve/Did Not Report list last season.
Tre Mason was a third round selection for the St. Louis Rams in 2014. He appeared in 13 games in 2015 rushing for 207 yards on 75 carries. He also had 18 receptions for 88 receiving yards, and one touchdown.
