Quandre Diggs says the Seahawks have restructured his contract
The Seahawks are getting their ducks in a row on the business side of the ball before training camp begins tomorrow. Last night the team announced a three-year contract extension for outside linebacker Uchenna Nwosu, which will free up a bunch of cap space for the 2023 season. Now there’s another move to report that’ll offer more of the same.
According to Seattle’s star free safety and sports journalist Quandre Diggs, the team has restructured his contract by converting his base salary into a signing bonus.

This is a common move used by NFL front offices to free up cap space and reward players who have performed well. While we don’t have details as of yet, Diggs’ cap number for 2023 was going to be $11,937,500. We can assume this move shaves a few bucks off that number.
It’s possible that Diggs’ restructure and Nwosu’s extension might be enough for the team to go out and make one more splash signing before the season begins. For what it’s worth, there are still several very-interesting names on the free agent market at the edge position. That list includes Jadeveon Clowney, Yannick Ngakoue and Justin Houston, to name a few.
