PROGRAM FUSION: BHS grid coaches to work with both preps and junior high players

Even though absorbed with preparing for the autumn gauntlet, second-year Bartlesville High head football coach Harry Wright has made a significant practice change that could reap big future dividends.

Everyone knows that prep football teams practice after school, right?

Not Wright.

He has radically rearranged the workout schedule so that middle school players will practice next year during the mornings.

Wright said this will allow him and his staff to have a more hands-on role in helping coach up the middle schoolers, specifically the seventh grade and eighth grade teams, as well as the freshmen.

Previously, the middle school teams practiced at the same time as the varsity, which meant the varsity coaches only saw the younger teams on game nights.

With this fresh approach, the staff becomes one large unit that will prepare the players at a younger age for the varsity system and mindset, making them ready to contribute more quickly when they reach high school.

Following is a list of Wright's staff and their duties with the varsity (V), freshmen (FR) and junior high (JH) teams.
