Cachoeira on the fight's key moment

"When I went to the ground in my other fights, I panicked because I’d remember the fight with Valentina (Shevchenko), and that disturbed me. This time, I went to the ground and I heard my jiu-jitsu trainer talking to me. I knew that I just needed to stay calm. And I heard him say, 'Calm down, 'Pedrita' – you know what to do.' I trained this. "I went there and managed to get up and elbowed her from my guard, and she felt it. When she felt those elbows, I saw that it was my time. I frustrated her takedown attempts and I realized that she started to play my game." https://twitter.com/ufc/status/1393715572236558338

"I trained for this. I never felt so calm for a fight like I did for this one because it took five months of so much work, five months of so much sweat, so much sacrifice. We train five months to spend 15 minutes in there. I couldn't let five months of so much hard work be in vain. "I’ve never felt so calm. I didn’t feel those butterflies in my stomach that I always feel. I am even finding it strange, but it was because my mind had the tranquility of knowing we had done a good job in training."

Cachoeira on what she wants next

"It’s a feeling of ecstasy and confidence. What I feel is the confidence that now I am in good hands and I have a special training for each fight. I'm sure that from now on it's just winning. In a little bit, I’ll be in the top 15, then top 10 and then, Valentina, I'm coming. "I didn't lose faith and my time has come. And I did all of that with just nine days’ notice. UFC can get me another one because I’m ready." To hear more from Cachoeira, check out the video of the full post-fight interview above.
