Preview, how to watch Texas Tech baseball vs. UTRGV

The last 10 games of the regular season are upon the Texas Tech baseball team.

The homestretch starts with the Red Raiders hosting UT-Rio Grande Valley in a non-conference game at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Tech (29-17) was swept in a three-game series at Kansas over the weekend, dropping the Red Raiders to 12-12 in Big 12 play and seventh place in the standings.

Tech's last two conference series are at 6:30 p.m. Friday, 2 p.m. Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday against No. 23 Oklahoma (26-16, 15-6) and May 10-12 at No. 16 Oklahoma State (30-14, 14-7). Oklahoma leads the Big 12 by one game over Oklahoma State and West Virginia (26-16, 14-7) and by two over Texas (27-18, 13-8).

UTRGV made noise two weeks ago with a 17-9 victory against Texas in Austin. In Western Athletic Conference series since then, the Vaqueros lost two of three at Tarleton State and won two of three at home last weekend against Stephen F. Austin.

UTRGV catcher Steven Lancia leads the WAC batting race with a .397 average to go along with two home runs and 24 runs batted in. First baseman Martin Vasquez (.333-14-40) ranks tied for fifth and fifth in the WAC in home runs and RBI.

Tech has three players with 10 home runs: Left fielder Drew Woodcox (.341-10-36), third baseman (.306-10-39) and first baseman Gavin Kash (.304-10-40). Three other Red Raiders have more than 35 RBI: Center fielder Damian Bravo (.398-4-42), right fielder (.338-6-40) and second baseman T.J. Pompey (.301-8-45).
