Tuesday's results

SOFTBALL

AUBURN 18, RIVERTON 1 (4 innings): At Riverton, Auburn did its damage early by scoring 14 runs in the top of the first inning to record a Sangamo Conference win.

Auburn (16-4-1 overall, 3-0 in Sangamo) drew 20 walks and needed just seven hits.

Leadoff hitter Addison Jones finished with three walks and scored three runs. Maddie Schoen (2-for-2, three RBIs) started off the scoring with a two-run single and Izzy Carlisle provided a two-run double in the first. The Trojans forced in five runs on five walks and Addison Wheatley delivered the big blow with a three-run home run.

Winning pitcher Syndey Rabideau pitched a two-hitter, striking out nine and walking one. Brooklyn Lanham tripled twice and had Riverton’s two hits in the loss. Her three-bagger off Rabideau in the second inning accounted for the Hawks’ one run when she stole home.

JACKSONVILLE 21, DECATUR MACARTHUR 6 (4 innings): At the Future Champions Sports Complex in Jacksonville, the Crimsons plated 10 runs in the bottom of the first inning and posted a Central State Eight Conference victory.

Kenzie Law and Jocelyn Smock had two hits apiece with Law scoring four runs and Smock scoring two. Sydney Vedder added an RBI double and three runs scored. Jacksonville took advantage of 13 walks with Addie Blimling (1-for-1, two runs) drawing four free passes.

PLEASANT PLAINS 6, NEW BERLIN 0: At New Berlin, two Pleasant Plains pitchers combined on a three-hit shutout and Delaney Murphy had three hits in the Sangamo Conference win.

Winning pitcher Kayden Skinner tossed five relief innings and allowed three hits. She fanned six and walked one. Faith Nestler got the start for Plains and struck out six of the eight batters she faced in two innings of work.

Skinner hit a two-run single that snapped a 0-0 tie in the fourth inning. Lexie Shimkus (2-for-4) had a two-run double in Plains’ three-run fifth.

Murphy finished 3-for-4 with a double, triple and an RBI.       

GIRLS SOCCER

AUBURN 2, BEARDSTOWN 1: At the Pleasant Plains Invite, Chloe Crissey scored the go-ahead goal with 12 minutes, 41 seconds left in the second half in Auburn’s victory.

Callie Gill got her second assist on Crissey’s goal after she assisted Karlissa Clark at 23:05 of the second half to tie the game at 1-1.

Beardstown went into the half with a 1-0 lead on a score at 13:25. Abby Harvey had five saves in goal for Auburn.

SOFTBALL

BUFFALO TRI-CITY/SANGAMON VALLEY 1, SACRED HEART-GRIFFIN 0: At SHG, Lily Woodworth prevailed in a pitchers' duel with 16 strikeouts to lift the Tornadoes to 16-3 overall.

Woodworth tossed a complete game and allowed just one hit and two walks. Audrey Cooper scored the only run on a passed ball in the first inning. Kamryn Sturdy followed with a double.

Kenzie Wieland took the loss despite 12 strikeouts in seven innings. She gave up one run on two hits and two walks.

ROCHESTER 14, TAYLORVILLE 4 (5 innings): At Taylorville, Peyton Purves delivered two hits with three RBIs and two runs, including a home run, in the nonconference win.

Brooklyn Thompson had a triple with an RBI and scored three runs. Bella Harness and Samantha Gleckler each had two hits. Mylie Deatherage tossed four innings with four strikeouts. She allowed two hits, four walks and three runs.

Grace Rogers homered for Taylorville and finished with three RBIs.

SPRINGFIELD HIGH 11, ATHENS 1 (6 innings): At UIS, Mia Volpert rang up nine strikeouts and allowed one run on two hits and three walks in a nonconference win.

Volpert also scored twice with a hit and walk. Kendall Knauer manufactured two hits with two RBIs and two runs. Layken Buch had a triple for Athens.

PAWNEE 6, STAUNTON 5: At Pawnee, Ava Rodriguez produced two hits with three RBIs and two runs in the nonconference win, including a triple.

She led off the decisive sixth inning with a single before scoring the go-ahead run on a Adalyn Boblitt RBI single. Boblitt added the insurance run on an Elissa Day groundout.

Boblitt and Kalee Hinds each had two hits for Pawnee. Haley Maretti took the win in relief. She worked three innings and allowed one earned run on four hits and no walks allowed with three strikeouts.

Lilly Bandy had two hits and three runs for Staunton.

CARLINVILLE 7, LITCHFIELD 3: At Litchfield, Hallie Gibson amassed 16 strikeouts in a complete-game victory.

She gave up three unearned runs on four hits and two walks. She also had a three RBI double in the second inning.

Hannah Gibson and Isabella Tiburzi each had three hits in the middle of the lineup while Chloe Pope had two hits. Charlie Bono had two hits for the Purple Panthers.

AUBURN 16, NOKOMIS 1 (4 innings): Taylor Patterson reeled off three hits and totaled four RBIs and two runs in the nonconference win.

Meena Taylor contributed two hits with two RBIs and two runs. Addison Jones had a hit with two RBIs and three runs while taking two walks. Sydney Rabideau had a hit and two RBIs. Skylar Meats dished out a triple.

Rabideau picked up the win with one run allowed on four hits and no walks with two strikeouts. Grace DeWerff had two hits for NHS.

NEW BERLIN 9, PETERSBURG PORTA 8: At New Berlin, Carlie Smith cranked out the walk-off RBI single to complete a comeback win for the Pretzels in a Sangamo Conference meeting.

Smith spurred the rally with a RBI single in the sixth inning and the Pretzels tied up the game with three runs in the frame.

Smith went 4-for-5 with three RBIs. Marissa Heironimus and Aslee Brown each had two RBIs.

Aubrey Vogel led the Bluejays with three hits and three runs in the leadoff spot. Kylie Teimeyer had two hits and four RBIs.

NORTH MAC 5, JACKSONVILLE 3: At Virden, Taylor Keirs and Sophie Gilmore each provided two hits in the nonconference win. Alexis Bowman mustered a hit with an RBI and run.

Abby Hendricks preserved the win in the final three innings in the circle. She struck out five while allowing a hit and six walks with two unearned runs. MacKenzie Gerard went 3-for-3 for the Crimsons.

GILLESPIE 9, RAYMOND LINCOLNWOOD 0: At Gillespie, Emma Gipson chalked up 11 strikeouts and allowed just one hit for her only blemish in a complete game.

She also had two RBIs despite no hits. Ava Parish, Macie Wright and Laci Schuckenbrock each had two hits.

STANFORD OLYMPIA 3, PLEASANT PLAINS 2: At Plains, Shelby Finchum knocked home Jordyn Turner for the go-ahead run in the top of the seventh inning to secure the Sangamo Conference win.

Turner and Kat Springer each had two hits for Olympia. Danika Frazier struck out 14 in the complete-game win. She gave up one earned run on four hits and three walks.

Lexie Shimkus homered for Plains.

CAMP POINT CENTRAL 9, BEARDSTOWN 8: At Camp Point, Karly Peters supplied three hits with an RBI and two runs in the Western Illinois Valley Conference win. The Panthers escaped with the win with two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning. Vannessa Nunez had three hits and a run for Beardstown.

CONCORD TRIOPIA 15, JACKSONVILLE ROUTT 0 (4 innings): At Concord, Gabby Myers and Lindy Parlier combined for seven RBIs in the Western Illinois Valley Conference win. Myers finished 2-for-3 with four RBIs and two runs while Parlier went 2-for-2 with three RBIs and three runs.

PITTSFIELD 6, RUSHVILLE-INDUSTRY 5: At Rushville, Tori Stambaugh supplied the go-ahead RBI single in the top of the seventh inning for Pittsfield. Charlee Gerleman had a hit with two RBIs for Rushville.

GIRLS SOCCER

WILLIAMSVILLE 9, RIVERTON/BUFFALO TRI-CITY 0: At Williamsville, Calynn Frye registered a hat trick in the Sangamo Conference win to improve to 16-2 overall and 4-1 in the league.

Brooklyn Termine scored the team’s first two goals and the Bullets rolled to a 7-0 halftime lead. Kailyn Milnes scored twice while Sophia Corredato and Makenna Reedy each had a goal.
