Saturday's results

SOFTBALL

SPRINGFIELD HIGH 3, BLOOMINGTON 0: At Bloomington, Mia Volpert threw a no-hitter and Springfield scratched across a single run in three innings for a nonconference win.

Volpert struck out 12 and Bloomington’s only base runner was Brynn Hoder, who walked to lead off the fifth. Volpert supported her own cause by hitting a solo home run in the sixth inning and ended the day 2-for-2 with two runs scored and two walks.

Kendall Knauer gave Springfield a 1-0 lead with an RBI single in the third. The Senators (6-1) scored their second run on a Bloomington error in the fourth.

JACKSONVILLE 2, BEARDSTOWN 1 (8 innings): At Jacksonville, Maggie Gerard singled with one out in the bottom of the eighth inning and Kenzie Law scored the game-winning run on a walk-off.

Law tripled to right field to get things going in the eighth. Jacksonville tied the game in the fifth on an RBI single by Maggie Gerard. Starting pitcher MacKenzie Gerard went the distance for Jacksonville, allowing no earned runs on five hits with six strikeouts and eight walks.

Beardstown led 1-0 in the third on an RBI single by Bella Palmer that scored Vanessa Nunez. Hallie Lawson finished 3-for-4 for the Tigers.

LINCOLN 12, MAHOMET-SEYMOUR 1 (6 innings): At Lincoln, Kelsey Marten and Madisen Wurth each had a pair of hits and the Railers didn’t allow an earned run to grab a nonconference win.

Marten doubled twice and drove in three runs while Wurth was 2-for-2, had an RBI and scored once.

Lincoln pitcher Regan Kutz struck out one and allowed five hits and one unearned run in four innings pitched. Norah Block allowed just one walk in her two innings of relief.

Lincoln improved to 4-6.

CARLINVILLE 5, GREENFIELD 3: At Greenfield, Karly Tipps went 3-for-4 with two runs scored and pitcher Hallie Gibson struck out 10 batters in the circle for the Cavaliers.

Carlinville went ahead 4-3 with two runs each in the third and fourth innings. Braley Wiser had a two-run single in the third and Kendal Maddox delivered a two-run double in the fourth. Isabella Tiburzi (2-for-4) added an insurance run with an RBI double in the seventh.

Gibson righted the ship after Greenfield’s Karissa Ruyle belted a three-run home run in the first inning. Gibson ended up allowing five hits and two walks.

PANA 17, SHELBYVILLE 3 (6 innings): At Shelbyville, Shelby Ashcraft and pitcher Joey Laker drove in three runs apiece and the Panthers rolled in six innings.

Ashcraft finished with two hits and a triple and Laker double twice. Izzy Reed went 3-for-4, scored three times and drove in two runs. Norah Kingery recorded two hits and scored three runs.

Laker allowed five hits and one earned run, striking out nine and walking one.

Spring Slam at UIS

ROCHESTER 5, PETERSBURG PORTA 0 (6 innings): Jaelyn Watts gave up just two hits and struck out nine in a complete-game victory.

Raegan Rezba had three hits while Eleanor Schudel and Samantha Cory had two hits apiece. Samantha Glecker had a double and two RBIs.

Gabbie Branson took the loss in 5 2/3 innings. She gave up 12 hits, one walk and five runs with one strikeout.

ROCHESTER 7, OLYMPIA 6 (5 innings): Eleanor Schudel had two hits and two RBIs and scored a run.

Peyton Purves tripled and finished with two hits. Brooklyn Thompson had a hit and two RBIs. Summer Parnell got the win in 2 2/3 innings. She gave up five hits, three runs (one earned) and three walks.

WILLIAMSVILLE 14, HAVANA 0 (4 innings): Nicole Sinks homered and tripled and finished with five RBIs and two runs.

Izzy Nowack supplied two hits and a run. Emerson Furlow scored three runs on three walks.

WILLIAMSVILLE 4, MORRISON 1 (6 innings): Hope Keenan gave up seven hits and just one run with four strikeouts in a complete-game win.

Reese Larson homered while Norah Dodsworth had two hits and an RBI.

PLEASANT PLAINS 2, GILLESPIE 0 (6 innings): Faith Nestler struck out six and gave up just three hits and one walk in a complete-game shutout. She also had a hit and RBI.

Delaney Murphy had two hits and two runs in the leadoff spot for the Cardinals.

Paxton Reid suffered the loss in five innings. She gave up six hits, one walk and one earned run with four strikeouts.

GILLESPIE 6, HAVANA 2 (5 innings): Emma Gipson totaled 13 strikeouts in five innings and gave up just two hits, three walks and two runs.

Gipson also had a hit and two RBIs. Lauren Bertagnolli supplied three hits and three RBIs while Ava Parish had two hits and two runs, including a double.

AUBURN 3, WARRENSBURG-LATHAM 0 (6 innings): Meena Taylor totaled 15 strikeouts and yielded just one hit and one walk in a complete-game shutout.

She also had three hits in the leadoff spot, including a double. Mailee Schoen had a double and two RBIs.

AUBURN 12, HAVANA 0 (4 innings): Meena Taylor dialed up nine strikeouts and gave up just one hit in another complete-game shutout.

Taylor, Mailee Schoen and Addison Wheatley each had two RBIs.

CARROLLTON 2, PLEASANT PLAINS 0 (6 innings): Faith Nestler struck out eight and gave up just three hits, two runs and one walk in the loss.

Carrollton's Hannah Uhles dialed up 12 strikeouts in 5 2/3 innings and gave up three hits and one walk. She also had a hit and RBI.

CARROLLTON 3, BUFFALO TRI-CITY 0 (6 innings): Lauren Flowers tallied 10 strikeouts and gave up just one hit and one walk in a complete-game shutout.

She also delivered two hits with an RBI and run to keep the Hawks unbeaten at 11-0 by the end of the tournament.

Lily Woodworth took the loss in three innings. She gave up four hits, two runs and one walk with two strikeouts.

HILLSBORO 3, NEW BERLIN 2 (7 innings): Anika Camp ushered 11 strikeouts and gave up just three hits and two unearned runs in the complete-game victory. She also had two hits with an RBI and run.

BUFFALO TRI-CITY 1, HILLSBORO 0 (7 innings): Lily Woodworth furnished seven strikeouts and allowed just two hits and two walks in a complete-game victory. Tiffany Farley had a hit and RBI for the win.

Anika Camp suffered the loss despite just giving up one run on five hits and two walks with four strikeouts.

BUFFALO TRI-CITY 8, MORRISON 5 (5 innings): Kamryn Sturdy supplied three hits and two RBIs while Audrey Cooper had two hits and three runs in the leadoff spot.

Tiffany Farley added two hits, two RBIs and two runs.

Lily Woodworth tallied the win in the circle. She gave up three earned runs on seven hits and one walk with seven strikeouts.

PETERSBURG PORTA 8, WARRENSBURG-LATHAM 0 (5 innings): Aubrey Vogel homered and doubled and finished with two RBIs and two runs.

Marissa Jiannoni delivered a double with two RBIs and one run. Morgan Fillbright had two hits.

Gabbie Branson gave up just three hits and three walks with four strikeouts.

PETERSBURG PORTA 17, LIBERTY 4: Aubrey Vogel rapped out two doubles and a home run.

She finished with four hits, six RBIs and three runs. Morgan Miller had two hits, two RBIs and two runs.

Friday's results

SOFTBALL

BUFFALO TRI-CITY 10, OKAW VALLEY 0 (6 innings): At Buffalo, pitcher Lily Woodworth struck out 16 batters and threw a one-hit shutout in a nonconference victory.

Woodworth walked one and went 2-for-4 with two RBIs at the plate. Kamren Sturdy and Lexie Patton each collected three hits, and both drove in two runs for Tri-City.

Scout Tschantz and Tiffany Farley both doubled, went 2-for-3 and combined two score four runs while adding an RBI each.

CARROLLTON 15, NORTH MAC 4: At Virden, Abby Hendricks finished 3-for-4 with a home run and two runs scored but North Mac fell in a nonconference game.

Carrollton finished with 12 hits led by Lauren Flowers, who ended the day 4-for-4 with two RBIs and three runs scored. Hannah Uhles (2-for-4, four runs), Daci Walls (four RBIs) and Hayden McMurtrie (four RBIs) each homered for Carrollton.

MULBERRY GROVE 2, RAYMOND LINCOLNWOOD 0: At Mulberry Grove, starting pitcher Lily Johnson kept the Lancers in check with 14 strikeouts to earn the shutout.

Johnson yielded six hits and two walks. Mulberry Grove took a 1-0 lead in the fourth inning on an RBI single by Kamryn Jolliff. The Aces added another run in the fifth when Taylor Stone scored on a passed ball.

Tori Elvidge, Jenna Matli and Taryn Clarke had two hits apiece for Lincolnwood.

GREENVILLE 2, LITCHFIELD 0 (5 innings): At Litchfield, Ava Potthast singled in two runs in the top of the fourth inning and Kaitlyn Lurkins threw a two-hitter to pace Greenville.

Lurkins struck out five and walked none. Lili Anne Readenour suffered the loss for Litchfield. Readenour gave up seven hits, two earned runs and had five strikeouts and two walks.  

PAWNEE 4, NOKOMIS 1: At Pawnee, Amber Bradbury delivered the go-ahead single as Pawnee scored all four runs in the fourth for an MSM Conference win.

Bradbury finished with two hits, two RBIs and a run. Adalyn Boblitt and Ashlyne Cobb had the other two hits for PHS.

Emma Selhime threw a complete game for the win. She fanned nine with just five hits, two walks and one unearned run allowed.

Reaghan Jonas took the loss for NHS. She went six innings, allowing four unearned runs on four hits and four walks. She struck out six.

PANA 20, MOWEAQUA CENTRAL A&M 10 (6 innings): At Pana, Shelby Ashcraft was a home run shy of the cycle, but more importantly she collected four hits and six RBIs as the Panthers won a high-scoring nonconference game.

Ashcraft doubled and hit two triples and finished 4-for-5 with four runs scored.

She wasn’t alone in a mass production of runs.

Brianna Mathis and Joey Laker combined for seven hits, eight RBIs and four runs scored. Laker went 4-for-5 with a triple, drove in four runs and scored three times. Mathis finished 3-for-5 with four RBIs.

Izzy Reed was 3-for-4 with two RBIs, three stolen bases and five runs scored for the Panthers.

GIRLS SOCCER

SOUTHEAST 5, RIVERTON 0: At Riverton, Chloe Crawford had a hat trick and still wasn’t done as the Spartans blanked the Hawknadoes in a nonconference win.

Crawford’s hat trick put the Spartans (2-4) up 3-0 before Presely Werts scored to give Southeast a 4-0 lead.

Crawford netted the final tally — the Spartans’ fourth goal of the second half — in the 76th minute for her fourth goal.

Southeast goalkeeper Talaya Williams stopped eight shots to record the shutout. Riverton’s keeper Briannah Walker made six saves as the Hawknadoes fell to 2-6-1.
