Saturday's results

SOFTBALL

CHATHAM GLENWOOD 12, PEKIN 1 (5 innings): At Pekin, Ryleigh Kiel and Ava Bobb combined for five hits and seven RBIs as the Titans won its first game of the day.

Kiel, who finished 3-for-4 with four RBIs, gave Glenwood a 2-0 lead with a two-run double in the second inning. The Titans scored nine more in the third when Bobb and Kiel each hit a pair of two-run singles. Taryn Griffith also had a two-RBI double in the frame.

Bobb (2-for-3, three runs) added a solo home run in the fourth to finish with three RBIs. Winning pitcher Irie Lorenz struck out three, walked two and gave up four hits and no earned runs.

CHATHAM GLENWOOD 14, PLAINFIELD NORTH 0: At Pekin, Bobb smacked two home runs and finished with seven RBIs as Glenwood finished the day 2-0.

Bobb had a two-run homer in the first inning and a three-run shot in Glenwood’s seven-run second. She added a two-run single in the third.

Winning pitcher Cassandra Feld supplied some pop with a three-run homer in the second and plated the first run for Glenwood (17-1) with an RBI single in the first. Elizabeth Blum went 3-for-3 and scored three runs with an RBI.

Feld controlled Plainfield North in the circle by striking out seven, walking none and allowing just four hits.  

AUBURN 10, HARDIN CALHOUN 1: At Auburn, Piper Taylor had three hits and Addison Wheatley and Izzy Carlisle drove in three runs apiece in Auburn’s nonconference win.

To go with a run-scoring single, Wheatley (2-for-3, two runs) had a two-run triple. Carlisle delivered a two-run single, and winning pitcher Meena Taylor (2-for-4) contributed an RBI triple. Piper Taylor provided an RBI double and a run-scoring single.

Meena Taylor secured the win, striking out eight and walking none. She gave up seven hits and one earned run.

RAYMOND LINCOLNWOOD 4, PANA 3: At Raymond, Emma Horath had an RBI groundout with no outs and Morgan Cowdrey scored the walk-off run as the Lancers scored twice in the bottom of the seventh inning to eke out a win.

Cowdrey (2-for-2) started the seventh with a single and Kristen Osterholt tied the game at three apiece with a run-scoring double. Osterholt ended with two RBIs.

Pana had taken a 3-2 lead with a run in the fifth. Lincolnwood winning pitcher Tori Elvidge didn’t allow another run over the final two innings and tossed a complete game. Elvidge gave up just two hits and Pana’s three runs were unearned. She struck out four and walked four.  

Shelby Ashcraft had one of Pana’s two hits with an RBI double in the third.

RAYMOND LINCOLNWOOD 9, VANDALIA 2: At Raymond, Cowdrey doubled, tripled and finished 3-for-4 with two runs and an RBI as the Lancers won their second game of the day.

Taryn Clarke went 2-for-2 with two runs and an RBI and winning pitcher Taryn Millburg had a hit and two RBIs for the Lancers. Millburg limited Vandalia to one hit and one unearned run. She struck out six and walked three in 3 1/3 innings.

WILLIAMSVILLE 11, WASHINGTON 8: At Williamsville, Izzy Nowack homered and drove in five runs as the Bullets downed the Panthers in a nonconference game.

In the bottom of the first, Nowack singled to left field to score both Naomi Roberts and Reese Larson to give the Bullets a 3-0 lead. Nowack scored on a single by teammate Bailey Wherley to make it 4-0.

Washington struck with a pair of solo home runs to start the second inning to pull within 5-2. In the bottom of the second, Nowack smashed a ball to left field for a three-run homer as Williamsville went up 8-2.

Elle Smithers also homered for the Bullets while Nicole Sinks and Avery Van Riper each finished with a pair of singles apiece.

NORTH MAC 16, NOKOMIS 11: At Virden, Abby Hendricks and Ines Ortigosa combined to drive in eight runs as the Panthers rallied back for a nonconference win.

Hendricks went 3-for-3 with a two-run home run in the bottom of the fourth and had five RBIs. Ortigosa was 2-for-2 with three RBIs. Both Ortigosa and Hendricks were walked twice each.

Taylor Keirs was 2-for-5 with four runs scored and Reese Perrine finished 3-for-4 with an RBI as North Mac improved to 9-7.

Reaghan Jonas led Nokomis with five RBIs. She was 2-for-2 with a homer. Maddison DeWerff and Cloey Dirks each doubled and drove in a pair of runs.

Nokomis scored three runs in the top of the first and seven in the second to take a 10-2 lead. North Mac responded with five in the second, one in the third and, after Nokomis went up 11-8, scored seven in the bottom of the fourth to take control.

NEW BERLIN 8, WHITE HALL NORTH GREENE 5: At New Berlin, Carlie Smith drove in the go-ahead run with a single in the bottom of the fourth inning and New Berlin won its first game of the season.

Smith finished 3-for-4 with three runs and four RBIs. She had an RBI single in the first and a two-run double in the second.

Marissa Heironimus went 3-for-4 with an RBI and Riley Holloway and Ashlee Brown both had two hits and scored two runs apiece. Halle Bandy had a hit and two RBIs for New Berlin (1-16).

QUINCY NOTRE DAME 12, JACKSONVILLE 0 (5 innings): At Quincy, MacKenzie Gerard had two hits for the Crimsons in a nonconference loss.

CAMP POINT CENTRAL 19, JACKSONVILLE 10: At the Quincy Notre Dame Slam, MacKenzie Gerard went 3-for-4 with two RBIs and Mia Schaecher was 3-for-5 with two RBIS in the Crimsons’ loss.

CHARLESTON 17, LINCOLN 7 (6 innings): In Lincoln's Saturday opener, Kelsey Marten singled home a run to give Lincoln an early lead before the Trojans’ offense erupted in a nonconference game.

Marten was 2-for-2 while teammates Faith Eckhardt and Regan Kutz finished with two RBIs apiece.

Lincoln led 7-1 after a six-run top of the second but Charleston scored four runs in each of the second and third innings before hanging a five-run spot in the sixth.

MOUNT VERNON 7, LINCOLN 2: In Lincoln's second game of the day, Morgan Sheley went 2-for-3 from the No. 9 spot in the order and scored a run in the Railers’ loss.

Grey Gilbert and Regan Kutz each had an RBI for the Railsplitters.

GIRLS SOCCER

BEARDSTOWN 10, RIVERTON/BUFFALO TRI-CITY 1: At Beardstown, Xitlayaris Marquez scored four goals to lift the Tigers to 9-5 overall.

Stevi Fuess opened with a goal for Riverton (2-12-2) before falling behind 5-1 at halftime.

NORTH MAC 4, LUTHERAN 1: At Virden, Bella Watson chalked up two goals and two assists in the nonconference win. Bella Travous and Kate Loveless also scored for the Panthers (3-13-1).

BOYS TRACK AND FIELD

Hollinshead paces Bullets at Lanphier Invite

Lucas Hollinshead set a personal best 10 minutes, 3.14 seconds for first place in the 3,200-meter run at Memorial Stadium and Williamsville captured third place at the Lanphier Invite.

Pekin won first place as a team.

Hollinshead also took second in the 1,600 behind Pekin’s Devon Hayes in 4:47.90. Teammate Drew Farnsworth was second in the 200 (22.83) and third in the 100 (11.47).

Lincoln’s Ben Crombie won the 800 in 1:58.49 while teammate Kani Carson mopped up the 400 in 51.21. Parker Campbell also swept the 110-meter hurdles (14.86) and 300 hurdles (41.38), and the Railsplitters finished fourth as a team.

Friday’s results

SOFTBALL

ROCHESTER 9, MARION 4: At Decatur, Rochester cashed in seven runs on multiple Marion errors in the fourth inning en route to a nonconference win.

Each of Rochester’s nine runs were unearned. Marion totaled seven errors in the loss.

Raegan Rezba yielded three hits and two runs in the leadoff spot. Brooklyn Thompson had a hit with two RBIs while Eleanor Schudel and Jaelyn Watts had two hits apiece. Samantha Gleckler supplied two RBIs.

Watts (10-1) picked up the win in a complete game with eight strikeouts. She gave up four runs on six hits and four walks.

AUBURN 17, GREENFIELD/NORTHWESTERN 6: At Greenfield, Taylor Patterson homered and finished 5-for-6 with five RBIs and two runs in the nonconference win.

Mailee Schoen generated four hits, two RBIs and three runs. Sydney Rabideau earned the win in a complete game with two strikeouts. She allowed three earned runs on seven hits and one walk.

CARLINVILLE 17, VANDALIA 2 (4 innings): At Vandalia, Addison Ruyle blasted two doubles and finished 4-for-4 with two RBIs and a run in the South Central Conference win.

Olivia Kunz recorded two hits and four runs. Kendal Maddox and Isabella Tiburzi had two hits apiece. Maddox struck out five in two innings with no hits or walks allowed.

STAUNTON 9, PIASA SOUTHWESTERN 8: At Piasa, Staunton scored three insurance runs in the top of the seventh inning and winning pitcher Gianna Bianco escaped a rally in the bottom half of a South Central Conference win.

The top four batters in Staunton’s lineup combined for nine hits, seven RBIs and seven runs scored. Lilly Bandy finished 2-for-4 with two runs and three RBIs, including a two-run home run.

Kylie Lucykow and Taylor Nolan combined for four hits, four runs and two RBIs, while Ele Feldmann went 3-for-4 and drove in two. Evin Franke had three hits and two runs scored in the bottom half of the order.

Bianco went the distance and allowed 12 hits and eight earned runs with no strikeouts and three walks. Southwestern’s Ella Kadell hit a three-run homer with two outs in the seventh before Bianco got the final out to end the game.  

PLEASANT HILL 9, BEARDSTOWN 1: At Beardstown, McKinley Lowe struck out 13 and gave up one run on just four hits and no walks in a Western Illinois Valley Conference victory.

Lowe also had a hit with three RBIs. Vanessa Nunez had two hits and an RBI for Beardstown.

PANA 8, LITCHFIELD 1: At Litchfield, Shelby Ashcraft homered in the first inning and finished with two hits, six RBIs and two runs in the South Central Conference win.

Bailey Everly, Kennedy Bowker, Allie Sarver and Joey Laker each had two hits for the Panthers. Laker picked up the win in a complete game, giving up just two hits and one run with eight strikeouts.

Lili Anne Readenour homered for Litchfield.

RIVERTON 22, SOUTHEAST 8 (5 innings): At Riverton, Brooklyn Lanham went 3-for-3 with four runs scored and five RBIs to lead the Hawks to their first victory of the season.

Combined with five Southeast errors, Riverton (1-15) drew 14 walks and finished with seven hits. Jersey Mulkins walked four times and scored three runs for Riverton. Teammate Opal Withers had a two-run double.

Ryley Elder and Dajah Dean both doubled and had two hits and two RBIs for Southeast (0-7).

GREENVILLE 10, HILLSBORO 5: At Hillsboro, the Comets rallied from a 5-0 deficit to stun the Hiltoppers in a South Central Conference game.

Audrey Schultz and Peyton Chappelear both had RBI doubles and Briley Kirby delivered a two-run double that gave Hillsboro a 4-0 lead in the second inning.

Losing pitcher Anika Camp extended the lead to 5-0 with an RBI single in the fourth. But Greenville scored two in the fifth and a grand slam by Haylee Clark (4-for-4) highlighted a five-run sixth as the Comets took a 7-5 lead. Greenville added three more runs in the seventh.

Kenzie Jarman and Aubrey Evans had two hits apiece and each scored a run for Hillsboro.

KNOXVILLE 4, HAVANA 2: At Knoxville, the hosts broke a 2-2 tie with a run each in the fifth and sixth innings for a nonconference win.

Losing pitcher Libbie Johnson had two of Havana’s four hits. Johnson doubled twice and drove in two runs in the loss. She threw 5 2/3 innings, allowing seven hits and four runs (three earned) to go with three strikeouts and two walks.

WEST AURORA 16, WILLIAMSVILLE 10: At Washington, Nicole Sinks homered and finished with two hits, two RBIs and two runs in the nonconference loss.

Izzy Nowack had had two hits with three RBIs, including a double.

GENESEO 10, WILLIAMSVILLE 9: At Washington, Madisyn Buysse hit the go-ahead RBI single in the sixth inning to vault Geneseo to a win.

Izzy Nowack unleashed a grand slam for Williamsville. She ended with three hits and seven RBIs.

GIRLS SOCCER

ROCHESTER 1, QUINCY NOTRE DAME 0: At Ken Leonard Field, Alyse Day made a save on the penalty kick and totaled four saves for the shutout win in the Sacred Heart-Griffin tournament.

Charlotte Beatty scored unassisted in the second half and the Rockets improved to 9-5-1 overall.

AUBURN 9, PIASA SOUTHWESTERN 1: At Auburn, Karlissa Clark chalked up four goals to improve to 10-4-1 overall.

Emme Divjak assisted the opening goal to Clark, who tacked on two more goals to help build a 4-0 halftime lead. Divjak had a goal and three assists.

Callie Gill totaled two goals and two assists. Hailey Brinkley and Katie Pace also scored for the Trojans. Abby Harvey had three saves.

GIRLS TRACK AND FIELD

Titans win home invite

CHATHAM — Natalie Alexander claimed three events and Chatham Glenwood captured the Lady Titan Invite title.

The Titans won first place out of 11 teams with a score of 127, ahead of runners-up Sacred Heart-Griffin and Tolono Unity with 102.

Alexander captured the 200-meter dash in 26.06 seconds and her signature event, the 300-meter hurdles, in 48.37 seconds. She also contributed to the winning 4x100 relay (50.11 seconds) with teammates Trinity Caldwell, Breashira Hemingway and Layne Matthew.

Sacred Heat-Griffin's Antonette Bartletti, Maria Bartletti, Sophia Paul and Oliva Redpath dominated the 4x200 relay in 1:48.15.

The Bartlettis also participated on the winning 4x400 relay in 4:10.57 with teammates Maggie Fleischli and Macie Rolf.

Redpath also won the individual 100 in 12.63 while Fleischli took the 800 in 2:31.70. Rolf captured the high jump in 4 feet, 10 inches. Paul beat out Alexander in the 100 hurdles (16.13).

Glenwood's Katelyn Lehnen bolted to first in the 400 in 55.85.
