Prep roundup: Olivet baseball gives coach Bill Whitely milestone win

BASEBALL

OLIVET 3, IONIA 1

IONIA — Olivet gave coach Bill Whitely his 700th career coaching win with its CAAC White road victory. Whitely became the 21st coach to hit the 700 win milestone according to the MHSAA's online records.

LAINGSBURG 18, OVID-ELSIE 11

LAINGSBURG — Emilio Garcia and Jackson Audrestch each drove in three runs and RJ Garcia was 3-for-4 with two RBI for the Wolfpack in their win.

MASON 16, EASTERN 0 / MASON 27, EASTERN 0

Travis Davis and Sam Jaskowski and each picked up wins to lead the Bulldogs to a CAAC Red sweep. Ty Hall notched three hits, including home run, Andrew Stahle drove in four runs and Jaskowski and Wyatt Ball each added three RBI for Mason. Matt Morse finished with two hits for the Quakers.

CHARLOTTE 33, SEXTON 1 / CHARLOTTE 28, SEXTON 0

Landon Jackson finished with three hits, a triple, a homerun, four runs and eight RBI to lead the Orioles to a pair of wins over Sexton. Conner Mackenzie notched the win in game one and Karter Jackson added on three hits, three RBI and four runs for Charlotte.

ST. JOHNS 11, HASLETT 1 / ST. JOHNS 12, HASLETT 3

Seth Shank notched five hits and a RBI through two games to lead the Redwings to a couple of CAAC Red wins over Haslett. Mark Bendele and Kyle Lockwood each tallied three RBI and Austin Beals and Ty Gregory each secured wins for St. Johns. Jacob Hedden picked up a RBI for the Vikings.

WILLIAMSTON 9, FOWLERVILLE 4 / FOWLERVILLE 7, WILLIAMSTON 4

Hunter Van Sickler went 3-for-3 Brayden Johnson went 3-for-4 with two RBI for Williamston in its Game 1 victory in their CAAC Red doubleheader. Carter Gulick and Ben Convey had home runs for the Hornets in their Game 2 loss.

CAAC WHITE JAMBOREE

EATON RAPIDS — Lansing Catholic edged Eaton Rapids by two strokes to win the CAAC White jamboree at Bonnie View. The Cougars had a team score of 168, while Eaton Rapids shot a 170. Eaton Rapids’ Bradon Ellis was the medalist with his round of 36. Lansing Catholic’s Hayden Riley shot a 37 and was the runner-up. Akewood placed third and Charlotte was fourth at the jamboree.

GIRLS SOCCER

HOLT 12, EVERETT 0

HOLT - Emily Holdcraft had three goals and Ella Marciniak-Jennings, Rylie Ysasi and Addison Hanks each found the back of the net twice for the Rams (4-4, 2-2) in their CAAC Blue win. Brooke Alberts, Aveah Loveless and Ella Reaves each had two assists for Holt. Taylor Crosslan recorded the shutout for the Rams.

GIRLS TENNIS

MASON 8, EASTERN 0

The Bulldogs picked up all wins at every flight as they notched a CAAC Red win over Eastern.

ST. JOHNS 5, HASLETT 3

The Redwings split the singles and took three out of four in doubles as they secured a CAAC Red win over Haslett.

SOFTBALL

WILLIAMSTON 7, FOWLERVILLE 4 / WILLIAMSTON 20, FOWLERVILLE 12

Williamston belted 31 hits while sweeping a CAAC Red doubleheader.  Jaiden Griffith went 5-for-8 with a double, home run and four RBI and picked up the pitching win in the opener for the Hornets after striking out seven in the circle. Ava Jolin also went 5-for-8 in the doubleheader and hit two home runs and drove in four in the second game, while Anna Judit had seven RBI on the day, which included a homer and five runs driven in in the finale for Williamston.

ALMA 12, SAGINAW SWAN VALLEY 8 / SAGINAW SWAN VALEY 4, ALMA 0

Chloe Hallock had two doubles and Eliana Rodriguez had three singles while helping Alma to an opening game win over Swan Valley. Bailey Walkington had a double to lead Alma in a second game that was halted in the fifth inning due to lightning.
